I do miss Tennant, he was really good. And at first I thought Matt Smith looked like a potato, but he quickly grew on me, he's great as the Doctor. I'll be sad to see him go. But I don't know which is better... maybe Matt actually.

I do love Matt Smith. Yes, Tennant is gone, boo hoo. I actually wish that people would stop comparing Smith to just Tennant, there were 9 more actors that played him before that! Yeah, I get that most fans started with Tennant but I stand by my point.

Smith's Doctor is crazy, more visually so than nearly every other incarnation. That is a great quality for the Doctor's character. And recently, he did what no other incarnation of himself did, he took his companions home by his choice, not there's, and not by force of having to due to a companion near death experience. More or less...

I'm also crazy about Amy and Rory; I think they bring something quite new to the companion dynamic, and play off of Smith's Doctor extremely well.
What were your thoughts of the end of 'The God Complex'? With Amy and Rory being taken home and not travelling anymore (for the time being at least)?
I agree that Amy and Rory are cool. Amy is my favourite female companion so far basically because she doesn't just tag along behind the Doctor like Donna or Martha or Rose. Whether on purpose or not, she is very independent during her travels with the Doctor and doesn't have to ask questions every half a bloody second (yes, I'm looking at you Donna)! And even when she does I can forgive her because she's the best looking female companion so far.

And Rory is just a badass. Have a whole series of just the Doctor and Rory as the companion dressed as a centurion and I would be perfectly happy.

There hasn't been a good Doctor, or episode, since the relaunch. To be honest, there hasn't been anything good since Tom Baker.

Hes not bad as a doctor, but he fails a lot in my eyes cause of the writing and how far too many of the episodes just have this big build up and just kinda stop.
So maybe he is the best doctor as some people say, but hes only as good as the writing and that doesnt seem to be upto much.
But i still prefer tom baker

He is a better Doctor but in some really aweful episodes, I found Tennant too smug and too much of a know it all.

I think that The Doctor was at his best when played by David Tennant so far. A lot of purists and fans of the original older series would disagree with this, but to be frank, they're like two different shows. I think that we could almost separate them in this respect. Tennant is a very accomplished actor in other fields as well; if you've seen a clip of his performance in Hamlet, you may see what I mean.

Anyway, Matt Smith isn't a bad Doctor. I think that he nailed the essence of his own inner Doctor archetype (which is all The Doctor at his core really is; aside from that, virtually nothing is consistent with this character, especially over the course of the old series). However, Smith's episodes are not as well done as would suit his good rendition of the character.

I think that the main failing is actually with Amy and Rory and the incessant focus on them as characters. The last few episodes have all been about how important their connection is. Yes, they're married, it's lovely, we get it. Can we have some Doctor Who action now?

In my view, the David Tennant seasons really rammed home the theme of The Doctor's survival, his attempts and failures regarding mercy and justice and these in conflict with his warrior side, and left us hungering for more of that. Smith's episodes are written in a way that is much more whimsical and humorous, but perhaps lacking in meaning. I just think that more could be done with the central character. He's more than just a reflection of his companions.

I really like Matt Smith. I enjoyed Tennant a lot, and still hold Eccleston as my favorite of the new doctors (you never forget your first Doctor), but I think Smith is bringing a lot of new feel to the role. His explosive emotions combined with his clownish frivolity make for a really fun character to watch.

I like him, not quite as much as David, but he is a hard act to follow. But I believe Matt is a very good actor who plays the role well. Had a hell of an intro as well with his speech to the Atraxi, the whole this world is guarded thing. He does have a great speaking voice, another is during Stonehenge with all the ships above, that was another just amazing speech.

I very much like Matt Smith. While David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston were very good especially in the emotional moments, Matt Smith can do emotion pretty well but there is also something special when he gets angry that is quite impressive and a bit scary. Don't get me wrong the other two did anger well but Matt Smith is subtly scary.
Also random is always good for Doctor Who.

I think Matt Smith is more childish in his portrayal of the Doctor, but to reiterate what loads of people have said, David Tennant was a starting point for many people and so, for those people, he will always be the Doctor.

I Like Him, like above he's less know it all ish, but that was good sometimes, like when the doctor was poisoned back in season four. Amy is good too, but I liked Martha better, and Rory is like me.. which is weird. Also, I think that the writers play tf2 a lot.

I like Matt Smith as the Doctor, he does bring his own brand of quirkiness to the role. That said, I have stopped watching it recently. The episode last Christmas was shite, the last series featured some very, very shaky plot lines and this last one is so madly convoluted its hard to keep up.

Each of the episodes seem to revolve around a cliché of sorts; Amy is pregnant, Amy/Rory are getting married, its all very nice for them but I don't care. But that's just my view, there's bound to be others who don't feel its clichéd etc.

There's a good story the only problem is its just one good story with fillers. One of my friends has a suspicion of what will happen on it as well.

The guy in charge of producing it did some brilliant writing, "The Girl in the Fireplace" and "Blink" to name 2, but he only did it every now and then so he could push his best ideas forward... I

I find that where fresh writers have been pulled in "The Doctor's Wife" naming one, it has given it some vitality.

I do like Matt Smith, he's crazy in his own way. For me it's River Song bringing the series down but Matt is a good thing in my own opinion.
