It still has to appeal to the widest audience possible. And that means this generation of kids behind sofas!Blood Brain Barrier said:What i'm wondering is why in time and space you would have Matt Smith as the Doctor when you could have the masterful Troughton, Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee. I mean it's computer animated and you can have anyone you want, so you might as well have the best.... Right?
I fail to understand how Tom Baker can appeal to me when I was a kid, but not kids 20 years later. If you're going for "widest" audience possible, one would thing you'd try to appeal to the audience that grew up with The Doctor too.TimeLord said:It still has to appeal to the widest audience possible. Yeah but how many 10 year olds who watch Doctor Who today know who Tom Baker is? Not many. Current fans who have followed the series for years know who Smith is. Brand new fans know who Smith is.Blood Brain Barrier said:I fail to understand how Tom Baker can appeal to me when I was a kid, but not kids 20 years later.I fail to understand how Tom Baker can appeal to me when I was a kid, but not kids 20 years later. But my point is that they will market the games to the widest possible audience that will generate the most recognition with fans and get the most money and most copies sold.Blood Brain Barrier said:That's not the point. The point is:
Baker=Good doctor
Smith=Shit doctor
Mostly just how the episodes are paced, almost all of the old Doctor stories are three part long serials, like a lot of the action shows of the time, it's really hard for the kids of today to watch the long, drawn out stories of the past due to the quicker, self-contend nature of the show they're use to, even I find it hard to sit through a full story arc of the old Doctors.Blood Brain Barrier said:I fail to understand how Tom Baker can appeal to me when I was a kid, but not kids 20 years later.
