first off they wouldnt, secondly they could not because i dont know if you noticed but fishbourne and freeman are getting on and being a doctor entails a lot of running and moving about.

I think the deal with time lord regeneration is that they cant change sex or race during but im not sure that im 100% correct on that. Really I dont see any reason why they couldnt but it all depends on the actors skill.

Fishburne and Freeman are lovely, but they're not British. There's no way the BBC would go for that in what is arguably their flagship programme.

Honestly, I don't care about the ethnicity of whoever plays the Doctor - as long as he's played well. Matt Smith is doing a brilliant job.

If a good black actor applies for it, then they should by all means go ahead. That said, they shouldn't just stick a black guy in there just to be different. Because that wouldn't end well.

It's never been established to have any such restrictions IIRC. And since new writers establish new canon, who can fathom the will of the Old Gods?

So are you saying that they should add diversity for the sake of diversity? Should they also choose a different race from the next James Bond? Diversity is great, except when it feels forced.
