Very interesting episode. I think it would have been better as a two-parter. I liked the alternate Earth with all parts of time squashed into one. And we of course haven't seen the last of the Silence!
I did like the Doctor's escape! Made me smile.

Office-trains are cool.

And the question, the most obvious question of all; Doctor Who?
We know it will eventually be answered as River knows the Doctor's name.

Overall, I think I could have done without most of the second half of the series. It was definitely the weakest of the re-boot. However, Matt Smith made up for the poor story choices, and the series finale was excellent!

Doctor Who? Well, the Other. Obviously.

[still bitter about the retcon of the Virgin New Adventures and the Cartmel Masterplan]

But, on topic, I thought it was a pretty great episode, like most this season (haters gonna hate). Unlike many others I actually think the Smith/Moffatt seasons have been better than the Eccleston/Tennant/Davies ones...

Quite good, it was certainly better than most dr. who episodes, and I can't wait for the question to be (eveventually) answered.

Also I demand a Amy version of the I like trains kid.
EDIT: Screw you guys I did it myself!

That was amazing. I think it's now my favourite episode ever. Loved the alternate Earth and it's always nice to see Dorium. Also, a very clever way to get out of his death. It surprisingly didn't feel like a cop-out.

Goddamn you Steven Moffat you beautiful bastard!
I was grinning like an idiot throughout that entire episode, especially at the Silence's Title for Rory.

1: Rory is confirmed, once again, as by far the best character of the show.

2: Unfortunately, I was just not thrilled by this episode. I would say an anticlimax, but there was no climax to 'anti'. The whole season has been a bit of a sad flop, in my opinion.

of course office trains are cool. so are fezzes and bow ties.

good episode. decent ending which makes more sense than exploding the universe. though it may have been cheating, as the Silence was never going to fall then (nobody asked the question).

I love how everyone was hung up on Ganger-Doctor and completely forgot the mini-people...

Anyway, I've really enjoyed the second half of the series. This was a weak episode action-wise but overall extremely satisfying plot-wise.
[small]Plus kudos for working the Brigadier's death in tastefully and successfully.[/small]

However I do think if Moffat pulls his trick again with not tying up plot threads the series will immediately be cancelled.

To bad i figured out how he would survive the second he was talking to those "tiny people in robot body". Very interesting eps though.

Since everyone is lying the doctor and river song , does or doesn't she know his name.

Will be an interesting next series since mentioning that the doctor gotten to big and that he should go back to working more from the shadows (or someone will try to kill him again).

And yeah Doctor Who ?

That episode was amazing, I absolutely loved it. Maybe some plot threads could of been tied up but oh well, I really enjoying it and loved how he got out of it. Now I guess next series is gonna leap up to the question and the Silence again.

If the question is "Doctor Who?" then, what is so important about his name? Or time lords names in general?

We know she definitely learns his name eventually since she whispered it into 10th version Doctor in Series 4.

A long, long time coming really. Seemed to be almost inevitable with the series reboot.

Spoilers!

In regard to the finale. I didn't like it much. Didn't seem to go anywhere, or do anything worthy of a finale. This could have been the episode before the finale really, first time ever I have missed Russell T Davies world ending, big battle finales. I like how Doctor escaped his death but can you really fool time like that? Seems a little iffy to me. After all he is still alive or am I missing something?

Excellent episode, all though I knew the twist was gonna happen after the Teselector (or however you spell it said) "Need anything else?" or something along those lines, I agree though that this would of worked better as a two parter as the second two parter of the season felt very weak.

Going to attempt to say this without sounding like an arse but did you not watch it properly?

He didn't tell her his name he said "look into my eye".

Just to show her he was inside the Tesselector and she wouldn't be able to kill him with her hand beams of doom.

In the words of River herself "he lies and so do I".

Now with that cleared up.

It wasn't an altogether bad one. It was a bit rushed due to trying to fit it all in the space of one episode but it went okay.

And Rory is still awesome.

But in series 4, just before River dies, Tennant's Doctor says;

"River, you know my name. You whispered my name in my ear. There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could?"

Only River does eventually know the Doctors name, in her first episode she tells 10 his name as proof she's trustworthy.

I was talking to a friend of mine about series 7, apparently in the Dr Who magazine it has been confirmed for 14 episodes starting in autumn 2012! Autumn! I hope they ditch Amy and Rory too many re-occurring themes cropping up lately for my liking. Ideally a fresh plot with Matt Smith, not relying on any pre-existing Moffat plot lines.
