They should have let Rory die. That, I think, no one would have seen coming, and would have been far more interesting.
You mean like the last time?

I think what they should do is give Rory "Captain Jack" powers. Moffat can show how much he hates the character without the need of creating additional dramatic scenes that turn just silly.

But surely Rory wouldn't come back again if he died again :p
But whenever any character gets resuscitated, you pretty much know they're going to survive, and I'd rather there be a bit of variety.

And that is an interesting idea, but obviously, by definition it isn't original, so people would moan about that.

i loved it! and yes, mysterious eye-pach woman, she seems to be some form of recording of a woman observing whom i assume to be the young time-lady. i thought that the orphanage was some kind of Torchwood style base, but if it's following Amy around then my friend's theory of them being localised time loops created by the time-lady seems more likely.

i loved the storyline, very well written, not a monster craving blood, but a doctor seeking to heal, very nice. father-son thing, pirates, amy-rory love, the bit at the end when they say good night was really cute ^_^ all in all a good episode, and i can't WAIT for the next one! Green-eyed ood of all things!

Fucking awful, the whole way through.

1.The pirates didn't rape the shit out of amy.
I get that its a family centric show, but there fucking pirates and there first thought upon seeing a pretty clear skinned girl is not to vent weeks of frustration at the sea. Really its not that big problem if the ass who'd written the episode had said they were privateers and not pirates. But then he wouldn't have been able to put in the incredibly unnecessary "why'd he turn pirate" subplot with the kid.

2. The kid was entirely unnecessary, the emotional involvement from the captain didn't make any sense. (Pirate captains don't become captains because their good fathers.)All he did was drag out the episode.

3. Amy the Pirate
"Hey the doctor about to be thrown overboard better not rush to save him! Hey Ill just put on this pirate costume so the fan...I mean I can have fun?"

4. Doctor turned sadist
He didn't even try to save the two guys that walked towards the siren. I guess he was caught by the siren's song, except when he feels the need to throw the crown overboard.

5. The annoying doctor
Jesus now i know what happens when a bad writer gets a hold of Matt Smith, every god-dammed line of his was a loud overacted fallacy. Shouting random stupid shit out all the time for no reason.

6. The magical disappearing man
When the Doctor and the Captain are in the tardis, the two pirates attempt to leave the magazine and one gets cut by the boy. His friend abandons him and he decides to re barricade the door to stick it out with rory and the kid. Then he's gone, the next shot is the rory, amy and the kid ALONE in the magazine with the door barricaded. The guy doesn't show up till the end again! How the fuck did they miss that.

7. Stupid explanations
Okay so the monster travels through reflections...Ugh. This is so fucking stupid on so many levels. Not to mentions that every piece of brass carries a reflection(you could see it for gods sakes) so does their eyes! Yet of course the monster doesn't come through those.

8. Thanks Doctor
So the doctor tells the captain and amy that they have to get disintegrated because...he saw bad wolf too.

9. Bad doctor
So amy the captain and the doctor wake up on the floor on the spaceship, and of course there not hooked up to the life support machines immediately because...the show needed an ending.

10. Thank god granny can outwalk the zombie
When the captain shoots the siren it very slowly walks toward him immediately evaporating all tension from the scene since we know they can just walk away at any time, doesn't seem like the sirens in any hurry.

11.Hope you didn't have families!
So the kid can't leave the spaceship because he has typhoid fever, fair enough. But why does that mean all the pirates who just had paper cuts have to stay behind too?

12.Wasting time.
Yes lets waste time resuscitating rory, get him in the tardis first!

This was a poorly written and poorly directed shlock piece entirely made for fan service. God I hope the rest of the season doesnt follow suit

Wow, that was fast ;) I can always rely on felow WHO fans on the good ol' escapist :D
On topic though, did anyone notice how that crewmember who got cut with the cutlass like, dissapeared? He was supposed to have not left the powder store, but we don't see him for about 25 minutes until later on board the spaceship. Maybe he fainted or something... But it bothered me.
Overall, I've found the most recent three episodes to be quite dissapointing, partially because the first episode (In my opinion) lacked pacing.
I don't know, I've watched Doctor who since the Eccelston period, and I dunno, but I always felt like it was at its best when the Doctor knew what he was talking about. I liked the way Tennant Doctor would always sort of know what was going on, even without telling us (Plus he didn't do the really cringy lines).
I hope the season get's better, but the next episode looked good, and I liked the Aliens from the first two episodes, so I guess it's broken even in my books.
/Rant
Phew.

Its true, I don't know why the new series isn't quite as good. Maybe it is because of the Americans?? I don't know, but its lacking its ingeneous plot lines. I started watching when Christopher was doctor too. But this new series is just weird.

I don't think its Matt Smiths fault, he is a BRILLIANT actor. I think its the writers and producers fault for the story lines. :/

After watching the "next time" on doctor who confidential, it would seem that next episode we might get to see more of the inside of the tardis :D

Is the eye-patch woman gonna be this series' bad wolf, torchwood, cracks etc? (I preffered the bad wolf torchwood ones as they were more subtle)

Time-lord DNA, jenny perhaps?
Could be. Oh, and on the series plot hints, don't forget the planets disappearing in season 4 as well, that was the one I didn't seem to catch until they did the big episode reveal. The only thing I caught from 4 was Rose appearing and shouting on the TARDIS screen and the screen in the bus thing in "Midnight"(In my opinion one of the worst Doctor Who episodes of all time).

What do Americans have to do with anything? Americans have done nothing to the show.

Or are you just being sarcastic, denouncing/making fun of the people that have that weird idea that "Americans" have some how changed the show(They haven't).

She was also in the one with the sontaran but yeah all of those we really good but last season its almost as if the cracks were wrestling for screentime, moving the camera to focus on them and things.

I wasn't that keen on it, pretty predictable actually. Next weeks looks good PLUS it was written by Neil Gaiman so should be awesome.

Honestly I think this might be Matt Smith's worst episode. Several glaring plot holes. The budget for this episode looked like it was severely lacking. Just not a good episode. I'm not sure I'd call it the worst, but it ranks up there. Hopefully the rest will be much better.

I kinda have a theory about Amy's pregnancy. I think she might be preggers with River Song. Any thoughts on that?

That would make sense because she can time travel, but River Song is part of the Doctors future. She has never said anything about Amy Pond. Also, River Song isn't part timelord, the little girl regenerated, rememeber??

Yes they did seem to be making them more apparent. The last season and me didn't quite see eye to eye. It was going very well, but I think the writing and plot fell apart and became way too silly with the two part season finale. While I bet many people would disagree, I thought that it was one of the worst ones out of the others(Sf1, Sf2, Sf3, Sf4, Sf-Specials) So far, Tennant's "End of Time" finale was the best one so far, and I don't see how it can be topped.

Now in Season 5, there was also all the referencing of the Silence, but that one totally went over my head because I thought all the aliens were talking about silence as in that the universe was collapsing and becoming silent.

No, I am not making fun of them. I watch a bit of American television, and I loved Britsh TV because it was a new style (I'm Canadian). I believe that BBC America has produced this series to open it up to the americans for more buissness (good plan), so they might've had a little bit of influence.

Well that was thoroughly calm, and peaceful. Everything made sense, minus eyepatch-lady-in-the-wall being a giant gaping "Okay, Who is that? And why does she have an Eyepatch?", and the inexplicable disappearance of the pirate Toby cut. Cannot wait for the next episode, with Time Lords, mail, the Ood, and being written by Neil Gaiman. And now...the excitement builds.

Oh, and Moffet said that Amy's pregnancy is going to be one of the big issues for this season. So yay, more quantum babies.

I call TARDIS translation.

EDIT: Actually, I kinda wonder if there's some very subtle things we're missing, like when the Doctor shows up with his jacket during the Angels episodes last season, even though the Angels had his jacket. Anyone notice some small things like that yet?

A) Doctor's morality is honestly taking a dive latley. "Genocide! Murdering Space Pirates! I have no problems with either!"

B) I KEEP DENYING FACT THAT THERE IS A LIVING TIMELORD. AND I DO IT IN CAPS TO MAKE MY POINT VERY OBVIOUS. THIS SHIT WILL NOT FLY AS IT DID WITH MASTER. You better have a good explanation.

C) Yes Amy's pregnancy is going to be this seasons "Bad Wolf", Vote Saxon or Torchwood. Although it's not too subtle. In fact it's so much "IN YO FACE" that I'm 90% sure they will do a "Suprising" story twist.

D) OOD! OOD!

E) I'm in the process of ripping that "I'VE GOT MAIL" soundbyte and gonna turn it into my text-message alert.

OH OH Also. Also the "Twist" at the end did not turn out to be a twist for me sadly. And quite possibly for quite alot of who fans. The same plot was used in the Fifth Doctor's adventure Audio Play by Big Finish called "The Whispering Forest".

Meh, it was OK - the previous two were better, in my opinion, and the next one looks very interesting!

Wasn't that becuase he travelled back with the cracks in the season finale and for a brief amount of time there was two of him? (If you mean when he was talking to amy, saying to remember what he told her when she was younger)
