Dr.green from half-life sounds like a weed dealer lol.
Dr. Green sounds more like a figment of your imagination. The half-life character is named Dr. Breen.

On a related note, nice seing you back D.

All hail the King of the Yetis
Dr. Colette Green from hl 1 ;p

You're generally given about five seconds to learn about and therefore emphasize with a character before it's time for he or she to start stabbing things in the face.
For the most part, I've given up on correcting people's spelling errors and grammatical flaws, because I just end up throwing my hands in the air. However, you seem like the sort of person who might genuinely care about our written language, so I'll point out that the word you were looking for was "empathize," rather than "emphasize." Again, I'm not pointing this out to be a snob, but because I think you might actually appreciate the correction.

Snow Crash was a great book, but naming the main character Hiro Protagonist was just waaaay too stupid.

Another one that comes to mind was a character named - I shit you not - Ronin in one of those godawful Richard Knaak Warcraft novels.

How about Horselover Fat in V.A.L.I.S.? I know the reason behind it but it still seems a bit goofy.
Well in defense of Hiro Protaganist it's been a long time, but I seem to remember he took that name himself as something of a joke. Consider also that he's a samurai sword wielding, world class computer hacker, who works as a pizza delivery boy. :p

The character is pure awesome especially given the story they made about him.

Though I suppoose having absurd names is something a genere staple. Let's not forget that perhaps one of the greatest and most influential science fiction series of all time is "Bio Of A Space Tyrant". The protaganist of that story is "Hope Hubris", son of "Major Hubris" (Major is his first name, not a rank, he was a poor labourer on a low gravity planet that Hope and his family fled before they lost too much bone mass to ever live anywhere else).

Over zealous spell checker is my defense and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks for the heads up though.
