I've kind of stopped holding ITV to proper standards any more so I can't say I'm surprised. Baffled is more accurate a word. I mean, this should have been found out under basic fact checking. You know fact checking? It's that process that makes sure your documentary actually has correct facts in it!

I think you give the Daily Mail too much credit. It doesn't take anything to such extremes and comparatively the number of the people who take it seriously is very low.
Yeah well several of my friends read it and take it seriously, soem of the shit they come out with is hilariously stupid.
Apparently when searched 1 London street had 20 illegal immigrents in it!
And they where being deadly serious.

Did they happen to preface that statistic with "I'm not racist but..." or "I'm not too opposed to immigration but..."?

Because that's how the Daily Mail readers I know (admittedly I only know 2 of them) seem to start most of their bullshit. Or "I'm not homophobic, but..." at which point I slap them before they can continue.

I find it interesting that it wasn't just a background scene that was used in some sort of montage, and so could concievably have been mistaken for actual footage by a lazy researcher, but they gave the video a backstory and important role, meaning it had to be malicious and deliberately made up.

Oh well, I can't wait for next weeks documentary, it's an expose about that Pacific Island that got overrun by zombies and the government hushed it up.

I think it's hilarious that, in the original cut from the game, it shows the truck do that thing where the physics screw up due to an obstruction (in this case, a soldier diving underneath the truck) and bounces up rather unrealistically.

I picture the editors reviewing the footage before compiling the video and thinking "yup, that's about right" before opening the window of their office and flying away to a land of gumdrops and lollipops.

Thats way to subtle, they started with "I FUCKING HATE IMMIGRENTS FROM PAKISTAN GUESS WHAT I SAW IN THE DAILY MAIL!"

knowing nothing of this channel (live in the us, we have IFC), but seeing that it means independent television, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say that they dont get a lot of funding and most of their stuff looks like indie college stuff.

otherwise thats hysterical.
ITV has about four channels, reviews films and other such things. They are by no means a small company.

Edit: Also, I find it extremely funny how they also gave it a backstory. I think that's the real issue here, not that they messed up footage. If it was just a footage messup, i'd understand.

Wow, such lovely people. I envy you having the friends you do.

Yeah my friends are a bunch of racist jack-offs who spout ignorance and retardation whenever they think it's funny or whenever they see a person with darker skin than them (though not actually saying it to the person themselves), but at least they're just joking around in their casually offensive, dick-ish way. I never get the feeling they actually hate foreign people, they're just hamming it up, for lack of a better word.

If one of them did actually genuinely express hatred for foreign people, or black people, in any real way I'd be done with them in a second, because I don't like that shit. I can awkwardly laugh along with jokes (years of practise laughing along with gay-bashing jokes prepared me for such occurrences) but when it gets real, I get the fuck out of there.

First thought: This either shows the game is extremely realistic, or the editor, director and producer are extremely thick.

After watching the footage: The editor, director and producer are extremely thick.

This is like the best advert for ARMA II ever: "so realistic, it will trick ITV"

either that or this in a new low for shoddy investigative journalism. Seems if they don't have hackers poaching and deleting messages of murdered children they can't tell their arse from their elbows.

Mind you, I have had ZERO FAITH in investigative documentaries since Bowling For Columbine. Now THAT was deliberately deceptive shit or the worse kind seen in the modern era.

I'd like to see the footage from the documentary. I can't seem to find if (then again I googled for all of 2 minutes). Must be hilarious

I think ITV should take this a bit tongue in cheek and come out with a statement and have said statement delivered with a person wearing a troll face mask.

nah

British TV can be easily split up into:

The BBC - paid for by the licence fee (tax), and thus motivated to generate 'high-brow' content - lots of documentaries, serious drama, comedy focusing on good writing, impartial news reporting and Top Gear.

Channel 4 - home of reality TV, odd-ball and unusual comedy (some of it very good), and the classic lets-all-stare-at-the-strange-looking-people documentaries.

ITV - day-time TV... (really, they do nothing else - celebrity news, talent shows, property shows, etc)

Channel 5 - the we're-here-as-well channel... films from 15 years ago and old Simpsons repeats.

+ all the other cable and satellite stuff from the US.

The CEO of Bohemia Interactive said himself that it serves as a sort of strange appreciation of the game's realism, but come on.
