just curious, since games like the one WWE puts out every year are the one thing I can't ever remember seeing a thread on, admittedly I've bought the Smackdown vs Raw game every year since 07 (although I've barely touched it this year) and with WWE 12 right around the corner having been retooled completely (since the series was getting quite stale I thought) is looking awesome in my opinion and I just wondered if anyone else on The Escapist shared my fascination with the art of professional wrestling (by which I mean soap operas with slightly less violence and one-dimensional characters) lol

and yes I'm fully aware that it's not real fighting so nobody needs to point that out

Back in the old days with the N64, that used to be the thing to do with a bunch of friends.

Not really, I stay away from all sorts of sports games, but I did have a lot of fun with the old Simpsons wrestling game for Playstation. Not pro wrestling like you're after, but it was the closest I could get.
Pwned my sister all the time by choosing Willie and spamming his traps in her direction.

I really dont expect too many people on the escapist to like them. Now Im not trying to bash the games. But even if the technical aspects work, I dont think it will quite have the same cultural appeal as many other games.

Again, this is pure speculation. Im gonna keep an eye on this thread though, just for curiosity sake.

Used to love em' back when I was a kid. I played the shit out of Smackdown 2 on PlayStation 1 and then really racked up some hours on Smakcdown vs. Raw.

Not so much now. They are more fun to play with a friend than alone or online.

WWF no mercy for the N64 was fucking amazing, it kicks any other wrestling game in the face, and then chokes slams it through a table. Other than that I have two wrestlmania games, I cant remember which ones but quite old as they are on the gamecube. WWE is crap now so I don't buy the new games.

I like wrestling games, but I haven't played any recent ones for the simple fact that I no longer know who anyone is. Most of the wrestlers I grew up with and cared about either aren't in the business anymore or have moved to different promotions with crappy video games, so just playing a game full of a bunch of stranger bitches isn't particularly appealing to me.

Hell yes! I don't buy every WWE game, but I still like them! I'm still a wrestling fan, sorta. The current roster in WWE is crap, and TNA is just a clusterfuck with the old people now.

yeah I'm a big time pro wrestling fan in general, so I try to play the games whenever I can. I'm still waiting for my dream game to come out, something that plays like the Fire Pro games, but has the presentation of a WWE game.

I played the shit out of Wresltemania 2000 and No mercy for the N64.

I loved doing a German Suplex off the corner and following up with a Pheonix Splash since the suplex leaves me up there.

Also, John Morrison is fucking sexy as hell. Just wished they'd stop punishing him for his idiot girlfriend.

I played all the Playstation 2 ones up until WWE Here comes the Pain, or whatever was the last one before it became Smackdown vs Raw. I always enjoyed them, had some amazing fun with the multiplayer with friends. I just stopped buying them when I stopped being able to watch wrestling because I just lost interest in the games not knowing who everyone was and stuff.
