I used to like wrestling games, my favourites being No Mercy on the N64 despite the strange bug that erased all your progress every now and then. And Day of Reckoning 2 on the Gamecube being probably one of the best wrestling games I've played. The last few Smackdown games have been quite dull, but WWE Allstars was an entertaining if quite shallow experience.

just curious, since games like the one WWE puts out every year are the one thing I can't ever remember seeing a thread on, admittedly I've bought the Smackdown vs Raw game every year since 07 (although I've barely touched it this year) and with WWE 12 right around the corner having been retooled completely (since the series was getting quite stale I thought) is looking awesome in my opinion and I just wondered if anyone else on The Escapist shared my fascination with the art of professional wrestling (by which I mean soap operas with slightly less violence and one-dimensional characters) lol

and yes I'm fully aware that it's not real fighting so nobody needs to point that out
I had smackdown vs raw 2011... I think?
Been a long while.. A very long while.

And about wrestling beeint real or not. Oh well it's entertaining so who cares wether it's real or not. Movies ain't real, yet it does not make it feel less entertaining right?

I quite like the wrestling games, especially the Create-A-Wrestler feature that people have used to great effect to create various people, like old wrestlers, wrestlers from different companies and non-wrestlers varying from actors to video game characters, and even to something like Spongebob Squarepants.

I played the shit out of Wresltemania 2000 and No mercy for the N64.

I loved doing a German Suplex off the corner and following up with a Pheonix Splash since the suplex leaves me up there.

Also, John Morrison is fucking sexy as hell. Just wished they'd stop punishing him for his idiot girlfriend.
I'm a huge JoMo fan I agree completely, Mileena has to go, or Vince has to grow the hell up, but since he's 65 and still holds personal grudges like that I'm sure the latter is not going to happen.....poor John Morrison...but god I wish I looked like that lol

exactly I've been making that very same argument for YEARS in pretty much those exact words, I hate REAL sports, they're boring as hell, give me good ol, scripted wrestling any day

true the Create a wrestler feature is my favorite thing about the games the level of detail is amazing, mind you I doubt they had me in mind when they introduced create a story mode, long story short I turned Mark Henry into a violent white-supremecist...the joke being of course that Mark Henry is black...and doesn't seem to realise...well I thought it was funny

Nope , i don't play wrestling games because i don't watch wrestling so i don't know who half the people are . That being said i did watch wrestling about 7 years ago when i was in highschool because it was cool and bought a wrestling for that same reason. Playing with friends wasn't that bad , but i didn't really like it.

I think it's because 'no real fighter would stay in the ropes long enough for Mysterio to launch his signature right? Also no blood, objects that hurt noone and the... unrealistic amount of abuse these people take are.. frightening huge :p

Still I'd pay to go see it if they ever come to the Netherlands =/
