I almost never make friend requests, but if others request me, I'll always "accept" and I won't even think twice about it, even if I don't recall ever speaking to them before.

PS: Is this thread just a really subtle "please add me as a friend" thread?

I don't find it difficult to friend anyone online. I'll do it if we've chatted with each other quite a bit. I'll admit, it's awkward at first, hoping that they friend you first, but you get the hang of it.

Also, I don't really consider a lot of these people my "friends." More like "people I hate the least who are on my good side." Those I consider my actual friends, I talk to frequently through forums, PMs, Groups, or better yet, Skype. If you want to stay friends, Skype it up! You know who you are. <_<

I usually wait for people to friend me first. I don't want to friend people, it always seem desperate when I do it.

I have a tendency to not get to threads until after everyone I agree with has already posted, so I end up quoting people like Daystar and Hazy and Smash so much it seems a little stalkery. Friending them at this point would just feel like admitting I'm creepy.

I add back people who add me. But I never add people unless it's the Escapists I've met.

I generally don't go and add people first because... well... because I hate you all I'm terribly lazy and making friends isn't exactly my primary reason for coming here, which is not to say I want to not make friends, I just come here mainly for my own amusement and anything else is welcome, but still secondary. Though whenever someone friends me (for whatever reason) I usually friend back because hey, why not, right? Which reminds me... I need to go and do that. Edit: I had 2 friend requests pending? How did I miss that?

Looks like a lot of people are in the "won't friend first" camp. Doesn't seem like a lot would get done under that system, but I'm not one to proactively do something about it >.>

I'm confused. What is this 'friend' thing of which you speak?

I'll be honest, i've never even considered 'friending' someone on the internet. Mainly because i cant stand this whole 'turning nouns into verbs' thing. Its bad enough that we have texting, but friending now? Also, it swings a little too close to this social networking thing, which is eroding society as we know it (true story, completely unsubstantiated).

I think so - I got one, too :D I wasn't even sure why, so I checked Imthatguy's latest posts. I must say, that's really cute :)

Yeah, it is kind of awkward for me, I tend to feel like I might be pestering them. >.> I usually like to at least have one, if brief, conversation with someone in the forums/user group before adding them as a friend even if I see their name around all the time. Iunno, maybe I'm over thinking it. =/

Nope, I just don't feel the need to.
Come to think of, the only friend I got here is some girl I don't know, and she was the one who sent the request.

And since you went so far to create a topic about it, I'll send you a request.

I always find it really awkward to add friends who I don't know in real life. I'm probably like the majority of people; I add friends back if they add me, but I won't send a request.
I've also never sent a friend request on facebook. Mainly because it gave me a reason to avoid befriending people who I know IRL but don't like, but also sorta because I liked how people had to go out of their way to add me; made me feel special.

Your name... it is perfect here :D

And OP: Not really, I have no problem with it, as one could assume through my badges :p
His name is perfect for most of his posts, to be honest.

OT: Hm. Not really? My strange thing with forums/texting/IMing is that I always feel weird when I'm having a conversation over text with a person I've met face-to-face. When it's somebody that doesn't personally know me, I have a pretty easy time conversing and I have no problems adding friends (though I haven't gone out finding people to friend on these forums because I'm generally a very low-profile poster and I doubt most people remember me from thread to thread). But when I've had many conversations with them face-to-face, I feel strange needing to text with them, because it somehow feels more impersonal than conversing with someone who's halfway across the planet from me right now.

Oh, I just think "Imthatguy" is a pretty apt summation for any post, really. It's an amusingly relevant username for any situation because any time somebody gets worked up or laughs about something you've posted, it's like "Yep. He's that guy." It's nothing personal about you, it's just a great username.

Actually I was commenting on the video but you pointed out why I use this username very aptly.

Yes. I do, in fact.

However,
I also have that problem with facebook, phone calls, and talking to people in person.

I'm just generally not comfortable with making the first move. So... Mostly, I don't.
(I have about 100 facebook friends for instance. And I've personally added maybe 3 or 4 of them...)

I don't find difficult pressing the "Follow" button on Twitter, but i do find it somewhat awkward adding a person as a friend because of a single post he made and then never interacting with him. Then again maybe i've just been visiting the wrong sites all this time.
