That show's been made, it was called Outcasts, although it lacked the dinosaurs...spectrenihlus said:Personally I think it would have been way better to have had a group of people building a colony on a new planet. That way we won't have to deal with insane time travel stuff.
Actually, Couldn't they have left a symbol or structure in a precise location to signal everything as fine. But that opens up a much larger, Gaping black hole.darthmocha said:First, when we first encounter the time tunnel thing or whatever they state that in dialogue its a one way trip only and that this is the 10th such mission to that time. So basically they can't communicate with the people they already sent if everything is one way? I mean radio waves, even laser communications exist within reality and the way they describe it you are completely cut off. So as a 'pilgrim' you could just be generally being sent to your death none the wiser. I mean there could be a pile of corpses dead on the other side and no one would have any clue.
Why do all of these damn shows have to be about the earth becoming unsustainable for life. Why can't the show just be about earth's first extrasolar colony and the trials and tribulations of that colony and the group of people around it.chaosyoshimage said:That show's been made, it was called Outcasts, although it lacked the dinosaurs...spectrenihlus said:Personally I think it would have been way better to have had a group of people building a colony on a new planet. They're trying to be realistic, no way in hell is any government on Earth going to try a creating a colony off planet without this one breaking. They never give a damn until it's too late. Sorry, I'm just really annoyed with my country's (The US) space program and distribution of priorities...spectrenihlus said:Why do all of these damn shows have to be about the earth becoming unsustainable for life. Not true. Take Mass Effect's storyline. We started by colonizing the moon because there were resources on the moon that because of more efficient engine designs it became profitable to obtain does resources. Eventually that evolved to reaching Mars to get to the resources there and thus the discovery of the Prothean ruins on Mars which opened up the Charon Relay to us and thus the rest of the galaxy. Can you imagine a show about a colony on a pristine earth like world with regular news coming from Earth and other colonies. I would personally love something like that. I guess I am just tired of the whole we killed the earth bullshit because god damnit we are humanity and we fix shit like that.chaosyoshimage said:They're trying to be realistic, no way in hell is any government on Earth going to try a creating a colony off planet without this one breaking. I have trouble thinking of any Fox shows that AREN'T insulting.Tselis said:It's Fox, are you really that surprised?
Arrested Development? Firefly? Fringe? please do not confuse the Fox Network with Fox news they are seriously two way different things.Zachary Amaranth said:I have trouble thinking of any Fox shows that AREN'T insulting.Tselis said:It's Fox, are you really that surprised?
Hell, same goes for broadcast TV in general.
Please, don't knock down strawmen. You just get straw all over the real argument.spectrenihlus said:Arrested Development? Firefly? Fringe? please do not confuse the Fox Network with Fox news they are seriously two way different things.
The point of fox not being connected to fox news was more directed to the person you quoted. By the way just because you are insulted does mean you are right.Zachary Amaranth said:Please, don't knock down strawmen. So you came up with three shows, from a network that's run for a couple decades. Two of which I think are utter crap. Not a strong argument.
Now, note I expanded the definition to "broadcast TV in general." Did you...I don't know...Think I thought all broadcast TV was Fox News or something? It's the only way I can think you weren't COMPLETELY and INTENTIONALLY misrepresenting what I said.
Oh god do I hate you right now. I was supposed to be working for the last 2 hours, and instead I spent that on TVtropes.nothingspringstomind said:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MST3KMantra
I'm just going to leave that up there.
Anyway, a new, relatively clever show on U.S. television is a breath of fresh air seeing as Network owners have all but said; "Cancel all the smart stuff on T.V. Reality Television is cheaper to make and the idiots will buy anything they see in the ad breaks."
I mean how many terrific show have been cancelled not because of bad ratings, but because some idiot up in the offices of (insert name of major network here) has decided that their audiences just "Don't get it." ?
[/mini rant]

I need to find some way for my browser to just block that site entirely.
So is most of Europe. I doubt American audiences would be too receptive to an all Chinese/Indian cast.darthmocha said:Last I checked America was on the downward slope of world power
*sigh* We aren't killing our planet. We're only killing ourselves. No matter how hard we try, cockroaches, spiders, various extremophile microbes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremophile) will continue to thrive.mikey7339 said:Exactly what is threatening it now. That makes no sense. I wasn't insulted, your comment was merely wrong (and quite specious). And that has more to do with whether or not I'm right than potential insult or offense.spectrenihlus said:By the way just because you are insulted does mean you are right.
