I'm a massive JRPG fan, especially Persona and Suikoden, and the old SO (The last hope was horrible, kaaaaaaaaaaaaay?).

I like certain JRPGs but for the most part my experience is ruined by the token cute or kooky character. Lost Odyssey was the last JRPG I played and I loved it right up until the two kids came in and overly-lightened the tone.

Yes, yes I do. I find most of them lacking a good story and decent characters but every once in a while I find a good one. I mostly play older ones on the ps2 because it has a ton of good ones.

The only problem I have with them in the fact that they MAKE you have to grind for several hours to fight one boss. I've yet to see a Jrpg that doesn't do that except for my beloved Lost odyssey.

I don't like JRPGS, but I also don't hate them. I do love pokemon, but that probably has a bit to do with nostalgia.

Been playing the Final Fantasy series since FF I on the NES. Have enjoyed Disgaea (and the other Atlus/Nippon Ichi games), the original Pokemon (bought red for the second incarnation of the Game Boy, the slim one), Grandia II (which I thought was really good despite how bad the other ones were), Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Shadow Hearts, Romancing Saga: The Minstrel Song, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2, XenoGears and XenoSaga (just the first one), Dragon Warrior/Quest (just the ones on the NES), Fire Emblem (the one for the gamecube)...

Anyways, yeah I play JRPGs and like them a lot. If anyone has any suggestions for any other games I should try, I am always willing to give one a go and see if I like it.

Nope. Absolutely hate JRPG's. Almost nothing of value in them. Mmm-mmm.

...

Wait. It's another necro'd thread. Yay...

Well, the only JRPGs I ever played and thought was better than just 'okay' were the pokemon, Disgaea and Fire Emblem series.

For point of comparison, some of my favourite RPGs are Planescape: Torment, Fallout (the whole series minus 3), Neverwinter Nights 2 (mostly Mask of the Betrayer), Mass Effect and Alpha Protocol.

Edit: Also KOTOR 2.

I love JRPG's. I don't have too much experience with them as others as I've only started to play them a year or two ago. I may even go as far as to say they're probably one of my favorite genres and I'd love to see them make a comeback in today's market!

I like me some turn based JRPGs. I just blame my laziness in looking for some good ones. The last JRPG I touched was Chrono Trigger, so let that say something. And Dark Souls, but the JRPG always appears as a good turn based affair for me. :)

I adore the Breath of Fire JRPG series, particularly III and IV. They were actually my first rpg series ever, and despite the rpgs that I play nowdays being wrpgs. I would be overjoyed if another one in the series was made (although knowing the current video game paradigm, it would likely be saturated with all sorts of DRM and DLC)

I played two of the Final Fantasy tactics games, which I thought were impressive and entertaining from a gameplay and customization perspective, but I hated the judge mechanic and thought the story (and particular, main character) ranged from forgettable to atrocious.

Nothing wrong with JRPGs in principle, Breath of Fire III is still one of my favorites after all these years, but I see a lot of JRPGs right now that are just too flashy and convoluted to appeal to my tastes. I see them and just see a lot of style over substance in my eyes, I would like to see them a bit more grounded, imo.
