On Topic: Dude, the game is a joke. It's meant to be that way. Have you ever played the originals?

I never played them in depth, but I have played them. The point I am trying to make is that people aren't that immature anymore, and that was what the game was built on.

Just because it's a mid-90's slutfest doesn't mean you have to pay any money for it. It'll be their reward for making a bad game.

for me, it's the corny jokes, reference's to other game's and duke's attitude that draws me in.

I honestly have no idea. I have about the same amount of faith in this game as I did in Medal of Honor; worse than the best FPS games, but not awful. I would guess, just on what I've gleaned from the internet, that it will average around a 7.

Sorry im gonna stop you right there, the gaming industry hasnt grown up, just look at all the Games we have out now, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Halo, they're all immature and mindless fun but they try to make themselves look gritty and grown up, which only makes it even more childish, I love all those games but Duke Nukem looks like it will be refreshing due to how it embraces being childish, cliche and juvenile. While yes the gaming industry should be growing up that doesnt mean that we have to abandon childish humor and vulgarity.

Yes. Exactly. Thank you for putting into words what I had been thinking the entire time I skimmed this thread. There are mature games, yes, but what I'd say there are more of are games that try to be mature and fail and end up pretentious instead. At least Duke Nukem knows what it is. I didn't play the first--it was before I was really into gaming--but I've seen the new trailer and the words I would use to describe it are parody. Tongue in cheek. It wants you to laugh and have mindless fun while you play it.

If that doesn't appeal to you that's fine, your opinion is your own, but I wouldn't condemn it as bad straight out of the gate. Especially without playing it.

1) It has new developers. Regardless of how well the game does, they are a competent studio.
2) Most games are just a 10 hour campaign anyway. Most are less than that. Not everyone needs online. ie: Yahtzee. There aren't many good online games anyway.
3) Did you play the original games? Did you play Duke Nukem 3D? If so, why are we complaining about the 'sex' jokes and such. It's kind of the point of his character.
4) Wait until it comes out... then rent it. If it sucks then you were right! But there's always the chance you will be wrong. I, and many others, will reserve our judgement until we have played the finished product. Even if it does suck by all accounts, I'm sure there will be plenty of people who still enjoy it enough to warrant a purchase.

Have you ever played Duke Nukem 3D before? It sounds like you haven't...

EDIT: Never mind a lot of Halo shit and Gears of Snore under that gamer-tag, I'm positive you don't know what a good game is now.

Countless times, taking into concideration that nothing implemented story or realism back then, I loved it. Though now, it seems dumb.
EDIT: Knowing you probably haven't even played either of those great games, I will just ignore your edit rather than being a jerk like you.

While I love modern FPS to pieces, I miss a game that revels in *being* a game. You can still tell a decent story (see Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight) without locking a character in a room for two minutes as they slowly explain what the character will be killing next... or having the character put his finger to his ear and walking very slowly until the exposition dump is over.

Mind you, I don't miss key hunts and getting chucked into an honest-to-goodness maze, but I miss being able to replay a game for its razor-keen sense of action without being unable to skip all the story bits that were barely tolerable the first time around and are now just wasted minutes thanks to Half-Life revolutionizing narrative in a FPS... there's a very good reason why I've never been able to play a Half-Life game a second time, while I played Duke, Doom, Blood, Jedi Knight, Serious Sam, and other such throw-back shooters several times each.

Probably with so many modern shooters is, once you've played it once, you've seen just about everything there is to see. Level design is linear, secret areas are few and far between, power-ups are all but gone, weapons are bog standard, and so on. It can be an amazing experience, but unless you've just got to find all the pointless collectibles or prove your manhood by playing on the unlockable highest difficulty, there's not a whole lot of reason to play the thing again.

Honestly, I don't think it's gonna be a great game. It's just gonna be one immature joke after another, with throwbacks to retro gaming, and tits...and...beer....and...

You seem to forget the essence of video games.
Ultimately you're playing with a toy, and a toy's goal is to entertain. If it can entertain without lots of depth than its fine. It's also a bad habit to judge a game based on trailers.
I will be buying this game because it looks interesting and fresh to me. Also it's Duke.

Think of buying DNF the same way you would vote for Sarah Palin.
It can't be that good but wouldn't you do it just to see what would happen?
