I do in an obsessively compulsive way. I feel I'm not oblidged to play the game until the manual has been scanned, at least once, cover to cover.

I ALWAYS read them, unless it's a Call Of Duty game. The longer they are, the more I enjoy them.

I read them to see if there's any introduction of the story or the characters, and maybe later if I can't quite grasp the concept of some in-game aspect or I can't find the correct button for whatever action.
I don't if it just says what all the meny options do, since I can figure that out by my own.

I absolutely read 'em. They typically give enough of a backstory/hook for me to want to start playing the game on a consistent basis. Also, the control diagram is always nice to see.

They're pretty useless nowadays. Some developers put time in making a nice booklet, but they're rare.

I do.
I even save them when i trade/sell my games.
Just for the art.
Doesn't that hurt the trade-in value?
im not shure.
Very few of the used games i get have the manuals in them.
Iv sold games without the manual and gotten more than ones iv sold with the manuals.
It just depends on the popularity of the game.
Though, it could hurt the value a little.

You lucky git.
My local game shops won't let any one trade-in games if they don't have a manual. But weirdly, they allow ones without covers.

i always enjoy readin the manual before i play the game like if i buy a brand new game id open it and read the manual on the way home for the back story behind it and so im familiar with the control scheme when i start playing it. Plus i trade them in with the game for extra money :D

I had to read the manual for Eat Lead just to see if I was doing something wrong because the control's are so awful.

I always hae to read the manual for RTS games as well just to understand the control scheme and the macros.

Some of the games I play are pretty complicated (for example Hearts of iron III and Europa universalis III) and to understand and play those games effectively you're almost forced to read the manual.

Not anymore. They used to be thick and chock full of information. Now all they have is some half-assed controls explanation and other useless shit.

Manuals? Oh you mean those little pamphlet things that come in my games with all the words and pictures? Yeah they make great filter fodder for when you don't have a business card or a smoke pack...

For those of you that have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, nevermind.

For those of you that do, am I right or what? I mean it takes just one extra fold but works like a charm...

sometimes i'll read them, but more often to not i just see them as a subsitute for the cover when your taking out the disc
