A friend of a friend of mine, lost his right thumb in an accident a while back. Yet, he still plays and is extremely good at playing shooters and other games on his 360. I know he plays CoD4 competitively online. When I say lost his right thumb, I mean there isn't even a stump there. It's completely gone, but he found a way to play. I haven't seen him do it, so I can't say how he does it.

I was refering to the style of holding the controller that Walshy from Team Final Boss uses to hold the controller while playing Halo 2. Called "The Claw", it's a style of gripping the controller with the right hand that allows him, or anyone using the grip, to use the a, b, x, and y buttons without removing your thumb from the right analog stick and still being able to use the trigger. It's mainly just repositioning the hand to be able to work every function on that side of the controller.

I have been gaming for most of my life of I gradually learned to use duel analog to control my characters and i think it is a great way to control people just takes practice.

lets replace all dual analog controllers with that knob paddle from pong and while were at it whats up with multiple buttons? Games would be MUCH easier with 1 button.

You can in Halo 3, just set Bumper Jumper as your control scheme, the melee button will be right bumper instead of B-button so you don't have to take uour thumb off right analog.
You're right in the cases of Halo and Halo 2 for the original XBox who didn't have bumpers.
How people managed to melee in that game baffles me..
Switching weapons id indeed not included, but I have to move my fingers towards the numpad to switch weapons as well so I don't see a big difference.
Being able to melee on Halo 2 (or 1) depends on how you hold the controller. There are styles of holding the controller that allows for one or two fingers to be used on the buttons as well as allowing your thumb to control the right analog stick.
Indeed it's possible to do that and I tried, but my hands kept cramping up like crazy, I just don't like the feel to it
Ah well it would be good for me to try and learn the skill, I'd be able to do a lot of stuff a lot faster that way, jsut like with bumper jumper
Halo and Halo 1 had a config for that. Boxer: God's gift to me and all sane players like me; it switched out throwing and meleeing. Of course it meant your grenade throwing would be a little less accurate, as you could only get your thumb back to the thumbstick for the second half of the throw (I think that's wh, to this day, sticking is one of my worst skills) but I always found meleeing needed that little bit of twitch more than 'nades.

Yeah, personally I don't mind the use of dual analog sticks, though it was seriously degraded since the times of "Ape Escape" for the PS. Using both analog sticks as oars for a paddleboat? Pure genius, I thought! Now we have the generic "move-with-this-one, look-behind-you-so-that-you-don't-get-anally-raped-with-an-Energy-Sword-with-that-one" control schemes.
BRING BACK INTUITIVE ANALOG CONTROLS, YOU FUCKERS.
