I have a fear of wide open spaces, and especially if there are a lot of obstructions in it and there's little light. You´re forced into the open, and there´s no way you can look in every direction. I usually edge around it, with my back against the wall, because I hate being attacked from behind.

Timed jumping puzzles over water that make you swim agonisingly slowly back to the start to try again.

I have a fear of things that have charging melee attacks. In shooters, anything that has a melee attack is bad enough. You're used to fighting at a distance, but suddenly someone blocks your entire field of view and tosses you around.

Melee attackers combined with tight spaces, makes me shiver. You can't run from them.

Places that are mostly deserted, but have an eerie mechanical background noise. Like the Dwemer ruins in Morrowind.

Or places that look like/feel like/are abandoned machinehouses. Don't ask me why, I don't know.

The elvin ruins in oblivion, and the oblivion gates; I walked through the first compulsory one and it was fine, but then all the others open up. I decided to try a non quest one, got so f*cking lost you wouldn't believe it, and never went in them again for a looooooooooong time.

Luckily on my next playthrough I didn't have the same trouble and all was well.

I dunno, but at the local supermarket the alarm that occasionally goes off there sounds like the turret alarm in the original half-life, it always makes me jump out of my skin but fortunately the bullets never come :)

In Jak and Daxter, when you swam out into the open sea too far and there would be a roar followed by a heartbeat sound, then you'd get eating by a creepy lurker shark.

The sharks in Ape Escape.

Going inside things. The dinosaur level in Ape Escape, Jabu Jabu etc.

When in a zombie game I walk around a corner and suddenly a zombie leaps on me and rips my kidneys out.
There's also when I'm just walking through the wasteland when a Death claw leaps out and instantly rips my limbs off.

Water sections. Especially underwater ones.
Agreed. Nothing as tense as a long underwater section with just enough breath to get you through.

Those scare me too, they just creep my out, especially when Oxygen factors into it, always afraid you can't get out in time.
Ah, no no no. Oxygen matters not. What does matter, is how big, or what is the quantity of the shark(s)/ water dragon(s)/monster(s) behind you.

I think what scares me the most, is when your on the edge of a cliff, and you look down, it just scares the shit right out of me, as well as not being able to see any monsters around you, but knowing they are there, and just waiting for them, honestly, in some horror games, on the first level, i sit in a corner waiting for them to come to me, but when they dont, i just give up, and dont touch the game anymore, thats why i havent beaten the AvP2 Human Campaign, Aliens and Preds are easy to play, cause you can kill everything, but not those god damn humans, AND ITS ALWAYS THE HUMANS!!!!

Min is probably dark areas, or fog. Anything I can't see into. Especially when it's a game where I'm normally heavily armed, but left my arsenal behind for that mission...
Especially if your low on ammo...

Wandering about in Oblivion, seeing something out of the corner or my screen, looking, it not being there, turning back towards where I'm going, then suddenly spinning around again and seeing a wolf (in super-high graphics, mind you) flying towards me with fangs bared. I always jump when that happens. The wolf was just an example, but any monster in Fallout, Morrowind, or Oblivion does that to me.
You do play with the music on, don`t you? It changes when enemies are near, so that kinda kills the surprise factor for me. It`s like a spider sense.
I do play with the music on very quietly, for that very reason. I also usually have other music playing in the background.
