I use my TV all the time, but I never watch television. I play console games with it. Or watch netflix.

I don't see telelvision lasting that much longer to be honest. In a world of instant gratification via the internet, forcing your customers to do anything doesn't seem like it'll keep working. These are the thoughts I have every time I think about it:

Why should I have to set aside a particular amount of time on a particular day to watch your TV show? Why aren't you just going to let me stream it? Your'e not? Well then I'm not going to watch it because I have better things to do at 8:00pm on a Tuesday. I'd prefer to watch your show at 4:00am on a Thursday.
Ha, I was waiting for someone to post a comment like this one. Kudos to you dude.

I actually have a hard time sleeping if my TV isn't on. I need something that I can ignore or I'm just not entirely comfortable.

Now this does have the annoying side effect of me directly contributing to the artificial boosting of the ratings for Tim & Eric or any of the other god awful garbage that Adult Swim plays at 4:00am after I've long since passed out.

I use a TV mainly for gaming. But I do watch a lot of TV, usually repeats of Scrubs and Frasier or The Simpsons and Futurama. I watch Doctor Who when it's on and quite a few other shows, like comedy panel shows. I usually just put it on when I get home whilst I go on my laptop before going on the xbox. (Pointless is an after-college favourite of mine. UK Escapists might know it) I do however watch A LOT of movies. Any night I don't have college the next day, I watch a film. I also watch TV a lot at my Nannas as she still has a video player. The last film I watched was Temple of Doom on VHS.

After looking at this thread, It looks like I'm in a very small minority :(

Not for watching television programming, no. However my TV is my PC's monitor so yeah I still use it all the time, plus I when I occasionally play on my consoles. There is nothing I consider worth watching on television anymore, certainly nothing that is worth putting up with all the f*cking commercials.

I use my sexy new 60 inch hdtv everyday for gaming, but no, I don't watch TV on it.

Cable is too expensive for never having anything worth a piss to watch and I wouldn't even have netflix if my girlfriend didn't pretty much demand it.

All the time. I watch quite a bit of TV now because I can't play consoles as much (I'm restricted by there being only one tv in the apartment ATM)

Holby City is my favourite. Also, the only console I have is my PlayStation 2, so that's going through the tv.

Nope, not in the sense of using it to actually watch television shows as they air. Games, movies, or whatever, sure. But haven't actually watched something being broadcast in years.

With new South Park and Ugly Americans? Fuck yeah! And the MOTHERFUCKING COLBERT REPORT!! Oh and Daily Show.

But aside from watching the new episodes of shows I love/like, It's mostly just a background noise. It seriously bugs me to be in complete silence. I can hear the air, man.

[small]...That last sentence sounded like something a pothead would say.[/small]

Plus I need a light when I go to sleep. It's a side effect from reading too much Creepypasta...

Excluding the use of game consoles with TVs, hardly.

Most of what's on TV is either a repeat of something I've already seen or something new I can't relate to in any way. The only thing a regularly watch is the news believe it or not.

I use my tv all the time.

I haven't had cable tv in about 5 years.

There are a few things that my wife and I watch on Hulu or CBS.com, but actual tv, no.

My daughter (4 year old) was really confused when she visited her grandparents and she couldn't watch whatever show she wanted and couldn't pause it when she wanted.

There is literally a cm of dust on my TV, because my Internet provider decided it would be a good idea to charge extra for my cabel, so I haven't touched it for months now, now if to think about it I should throw it out along with my dvd player and VCR.

I'm assuming you mean watching television through a television =p Nah, I entirely agree, I used to watch telly all the time as a kid, now it seems so unproductive, especially when I consider that I used to sit and watch things that I didn't really wanna watch 'cos nothing was on.

I watch maybe an hour a week? Usually I watch what I want to "on demand" instead. Probably about 4 shows I watch nowadays (Not including Netflix, which is bloody awesome!)
