glad to see i was wrong :)

anyway yeah i'd like to see a second one provided it had some sort of free roam mode
and made the shiny surfaces JUST a little less shiny

This games frustrated me with it's promise of free-running and it's narrow linear run paths. Would love to see a sequel that takes a few cues on free running from Assassin's Creed.

If they can clear up the frustrations of the first one (short play time, the aggravating parts that keep killing you for 30 mins) I'd love a sequel in the same style as the first.

Itss an excellent idea, a different and innovative concept, possibly the best use of color ever seen in any medium, the strength of an existing IP could easily bring in writers and animators to shore up the weak scrips and cutscenes, and has limitless room for improvement over flawed, original choices. I can think of no series that would benefit more from a sequel. Besides, it is VERY apparent what needs to be done to improve things: Less combat, especially forced combat. Personally, I want to see less situations where police are in front of you, and more situations where they are closing in from behind, or running at you from the flank. Puzzles in Mirrors Edge are relatively simple and straight forward, and a timer with the emphasis on speed would fit the game extremely well.

Nah, i found the game-play incredibly simple and dull. The running looked cool when you saw it, but then you realize it's really just a simple rhythm game in which you push the left trigger whenever you see an incredibly obvious slide moment, right trigger when you see an incredibly obvious jump moment, and a couple of other buttons when you see other, incredibly obvious and color coded moments pieces of environment. (Do note that those controls are likely wrong, but I'm not going to bother playing the game again to check.).

I thought it was a nice idea, and it was good to see a little bit of innovation, but in the end i just don't think it worked. A sequel would either just be the same game again a second time, in which case i wouldn't care, or change the game so much that it would make more sense to just make a different game, as fans of the original would be disappointed and haters of the original wouldn't even give it a try.

I loved the original. So fast-paced, so fluent, so innovative, and I could actually see my body when I looked down.

Sequel, please.

Welcome to every EA-published sequel ever. In the case of Mirror's Edge, however, I have no idea how they could possibly simplify it any further. Although I'm sure they'll find a way.
I agree that the gameplay was simple, so I'd imagine they have nowhere left to turn but to make the characters all appeal to the mass market. Welcome large brested Faith who runs in a bikini and grunts sexually every time she does anything.

Ever since I beat the first one, I've been waiting for confirmation of a sequel. But they would definitely need to change a few things, namely the linear paths that the game forces you to take. Yes, there were a FEW different ways of getting to your goal at the end of the level. But, to me at least, they all felt extremely contrived and planned out. As long as EA decides to fix this (and OF COURSE the Esurance-style cut-scenes), I'll definitely be picking up the second one.

I WANT a Mirror's Edge sequel. The game had a great system that could have yielded amazing experiences. In the original game, only about 25% of those experiences were realized. I'm also pretty happy that EA/DICE are working on a sequel even if it's still in the conceptual stage.

Better story - combat + open-map multiplayer races - shitty animated cutscenes = yes please!

yea this game needs all the different moves allocated to different buttons in order to allow more freedom of movement meaning a skilled player can pull of more interesting moves.

OT: yes, reduce the combat and make the game linear in story mode and have a decent size sandbox map for practice which can be played with a friend and off course an actually race mode.

The first game was bad but had potential. If that potential could be realised then yes, I would want a sequal. If it stayed like it was, then no way.

I started writing the same thing when I noticed your reply :p

Yeah, basically that. Also needs to be longer, the first was criminally short. The way they designed combat in the first part was shit (shooting's completely out of place), but there may be better ways to implement combat so that it fits. Alternatively just having to run the fuck away sometimes wouldn't be a bad idea either, adds a sense of thrill for sure. Multiplayer could also definitely work if designed right.

Damn right I would, if they would just make most of it like the first level of the first game, and not all that stupid duct crawling stuff.

I'd like to see a spiritual sequel, rather than a direct sequel.

They really need to focus on the story aspect now that they have a mostly solid game-play foundation. Keep it single-player focused & keep the bright, colourful environments.

I think its worth a shot.

and don't title it Mirror's Edge 2.
quoting myself. This thread has been done a couple times before.

Yes, I definitely want a sequel. No one can deny that ME 1 was flawed, but it was a sound and promising concept; something that could easily be improved upon. Hopefully it will be released sooner rather than later/never.

Yeeeessss. I love ME despite its many flaws. Since they where trying something relatively new it?s not surprising the game was short and there were many flaws. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will have a chance to improve and unlock more of the potentiall it has.

No. The gameplay was fine and the wrapped the storey up in the first one. A sequel wouldn't add anything.
Not really, it warped up the faith rescuing her sister part of the plot but that?s it. The assassination of Pope, the runner's being targeted to cut off communication, the privatising of the police force and Callahan where only just touched on. It seemed like it was meant to be an introduction and Faiths sister being the cop who was targeted was an excuse to get her involved.

I have heard some strange people suggesting they use the smart button mechanic from Brink or something similar to Assassins Creed so essentially all you would be doing is holding down a button and pointing in the direction you want to go. ?Oh it?s not fair, I was only slightly off the angle I was meant to be. The game should be able to figure out what I wanted to do and auto correct!? I really don?t understand why some people play theses games in the first place when it seems they really just want to watch a movie. If it auto corrects for you there is no point in playing and it defeats the almost entire purpose of the game. I also hope they don?t make it more shooty killy to appeal to the masses.
