Honestly I think he's a straight up pussy for fighting it restrained like that. Kangaroos are mean basterds, example:

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2009/11/23/kangaroo-tries-drown-man-dog/?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a16:g2:r1:c0.197937:b29014848:z10

I wouldn't mind a man fighting a kangaroo fair and square, because frankly the kangaroo has the advantage (they use the powerful hind legs to grip and then tear their opponents apart).

I am gobsmacked and SO fucking irate. I am a proud Aussie and this is just making a mockery of us. Have just shown my English boyfriend and he was appauled as well.
Also I bet if something like that was done to a bald eagle or some other American symbol they would all be up in arms about it (now I have nothing against American people in particular Im just saying).
Not to mention bloody anumal abuse! I cant even comment anymore, I'm so angry.

It would be so much easier if we humans just left nature the hell alone.

I don't care if it's a national symbol or not... that doesn't give it any special rights. The problem is forcing an animal to act as entertainment. x_X Though I thought Australians hated kangaroos what with the giant pest thing and all...

Okay I'm Australian here, and I am not offended by the fact that its our national emblem. Hell, we EAT kangaroo for Christ's sake! And most farmers (to my knowledge) view kangaroo as vermin, like rabbits and mice. They kill them.

What I am offended by is the way they treat it, and how they are getting it mad just for sport. That's just mean. They're just trying to make a quick buck. That is whats disgusting.

I don't mean to to sound like someone from Greenpeace or anything, but really?

Edit: Okay beat to it by the above post. Yes, we do view them as a pest. They eat all up in our shit and cause problems for farmers.

Can't help but feel that this is a wonderful allegory for US Foreign Policy.

(Edit: Or possibly very bad things to come in the future for us Aussies)

Texas doing something cruel? I am shocked!/sarcasm

OT: I'm glad the animal put up some sort of a fight, even though it was restrained. That guy should try fighting the kangaroo with restraints...see how long he'll last then.
EDIT:

...probably followed by a mild case of death.

Yeah vomiting right there with you, OP.

It's a disgrace to be treating any animal like that, national emblem or not.

I say take off it's restraints, then see how far the guy gets with his "jabbing them repeatedly and then restraining them into a headlock" to bait them into fighting.

That's disgusting and he should be charged.

I hope he gets kicked in the face with full weight of that kangaroo following behind someday. I also hope that the claws gouge his eyes. Maybe that would teach him some respect.

I hope the 'Roo gets a lucky kick in. We will see how much the dude likes getting smashed by 80 kilograms(176 pounds) of muscle. From the article- "You cannot force a kangaroo to do nothing," sounds like a real smart fella.

It's not ideal, but I get the idea this has been going on since I was a child, that's a good 15 years, why is it now that a country (Australia) has taken offense?

Anyway, to answer the second question, about my countries mascot, I'm English, the animal is a Lion, I'd find a American fighting a Lion quite humorous in concept, then be applauded as they have to put the Lion down for mauling the poor guy. Or I could go with the fact I live in Wales and Wales' animal is a Red Dragon, I would be over joyed, because then Dragons would exist.

the only animals people should be allowed to fight humans in a ring are bears and lions... and tigers.

I'm not shocked and I'm not disgusted.

I am however in agreement that this is horribly wrong, but not enough to make me sick as I have seen far worse. I also believe that there is a humane way to train animals for entertainment and that animal entertainment shouldn't be outright banned, but Kangaroo Boxing isn't what I'd call entertainment. Not by this owner's terms. If it was unrestrained and kicking his ass, then yeah I'd be entertained - if only for the poetic justice.

I am not taking Australia's side on this matter... I'm saying that it's horrible because he mistreats the animals even outside of the ring and back at his... I guess ranch.

EDIT: I rescind my comment about Texas, it is considered null and void. Apparently it's legal in many states.

This is pretty idiotic to be honest. Really, a restrained kangaroo and a man fighting? I wouldn't mind so much if it was playfighting but it's not, it's some guy choking a kangaroo defending itself.

Kangaroo needs to Falcon Kick them to the world of creulty where kangaroos choke humans, while they fight other kangaroos.
