Yeah, I don't much care about 'the national symbol' rubbish, if it was dogfighting with british bulldogs, I'd not even register the national symbol stuff, just the sheer wrongness of the act. The really sad part is, the day that kangaroo gets lucky and kicks someone's ribcage out thru their spine, suddenly, he'll be a danger to humans and he'll get shot.

Obama wrestled his dog in front of a swooning crowd of liberal sheeple.
He wasn't even wearing gigantic oven mitts.
Whats the difference?

Meh, it's not so bad. I've read articles about parents whoring their teenage girls/boys out to random old men to pay for the utilities. I even read one involving a baby, a lonely crib, and a pothead father who played his favorite game for too long. Animal abuse, though screwed up, doesn't phase me.

-Though what does confuse me is how many Australians are angry. Why? Isn't the kangaroo more of an over-sized pest in your country than a national icon? It'd be like if they were boxing a deer instead... Which has a funny tone to it, to be honest.

I'd love to see them take the 'roo off the leash and without the gloves. It would probably kill the clown.
Not probably, it would. Roos kill people. That one looks like a red. Albeit a small one, but a red none the less. If it wasnt roped down, that guy would be dead. You could even leave the boxing gloves on it and it would still kill the guy. Even a grey would likely kill him.

Roos dont fight with their front legs. They grab on to their opponents shoulders to balance themselves so that they can bring up their hind legs. They then proceed to eviscerate whatever they're fighting.

I dont think he should be arrested. He should be forced to fight it without it's gloves or the rope holding it down. His funeral would be cheaper that what it would cost the courts to process him. Why waste money that could be going to someone who really needs it?

And they can. These things jump around the place, and they can get pretty damn big. As a result, their legs are extremely muscular.

You know, I'm not annoyed by the act, I'm just annoyed that it's Texans using our mascot, for whatever purpose.

I find it funny how people boxing for our entertainment is completely fine.
Because those 2 people choose to be boxing each other.

I very much doubt that boxing is on the top of that Kangaroo's priorities.

The point about it being the national emblem is stupid though; it sounds like you're saying that for that reason its even worse than another animal being put into that situation.

I don't see how this is more offensive than say... Bear wrestling, or Crocodile wrestling.

Admittedly, it would have been cooler if they didn't have the protective measures. That Kangaroo kicked some ass.

People can say "Fuck you, *****, I do not want to box" and walk away.

So forcing bears to dance is illegal but driving a kangaroo into an insane boxing frenzy is A-okay?
Excuse me, I need to find the mystical and long-forgotten item known as common sense.
Give me a call when you've found it, please. (I wanted to do a missing-wife joke here, but that would've been too lame)
It's Dangerous to go Alone...

OT: Some people can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy. That kangaroo boxing cartoon must've looked like a great idea... Did you know someone beat Curly (of The Three Stooges) over the head with an actual hammer? He thought he'd be fine, just like on the show. It's also the reason this happens.

Bottom line: horrible but largely unsurprising.

This is a remake of something old, created in the stupid ages, where a kangaroo was in fact a kick boxer that beat the shit out of a lot of people. Wasn't so much abuse back then for the world around had yet to see animals as more then dumb things the gods put on the earth for us to abuse and kill. More so the fact roos will always gave more then it get in a fight* and boxing with one is a dangerous thing to do. Still I have problems with it for a simple reason: why would we want to relive something from the stupid ages? The only reason I can fathom is they wanted to some how link back to the old black and white pictures of that original boxing kangaroo as if it was some icon to be proud of, which sadly many are.

Well a comedian I listen too correctly identified the problem: Australia exists 50 years in the past! Even though Australia is a 'first class western nation' the reality is that Australian morality, sensibility, laws and well everything else might as well be taken out of the sixties... with all the good parts of the sixties being ignored as 'immoral.' You know the bad parts I mean. Those over controlling 'rules' set out by the people who where old farts during the sixties, well the ones that where not chasing around little dots of light that special paper allowed them to see. For this reason racism, sexism, any other ism as well as stupid acts like this animal abuse are common place. Sadly with no one seriously ever interested in fixing the problem.

I'm more disgusted the fact it took riots to even get a black death in police custody into a court room let alone the sham of a trial it turned out to be. I kid you not, for the 100 years we where a country and the 100 more we where colonies only recently was a police officer investigated in the killing of a black person. To archive that it took hundreds of people (10% of the islands population) rising up and burning some shit down before the government was even willing to entertain the prospect that it was actually more then 'just another accident' and did that just to shut the rioters up more then anything else. The trial was a sham, designed to get the officer off free even though, at the very least, the refusal to give medial aid should of caused some jail time.

http://directaction.org.au/issue4/aboriginal_deaths_in_custody_protests_to_demand_justice

Not the most unbiased of the reports on this, but it is quite accurate still to what happened. The accused even admitted to throwing the punches that led to the injuries that would later take a life but was acquitted by a all white jury, based on the fact it was a 'self defence' even though the autopsy alone shows it was a very one sided and heavy handed beating... oh and the victim was originally arrested for swearing in front of police officers. Self defenced to death for swearing at a cop... well happens a lot in Australia if your black!

PS: I speak as an Australian citizen here, one looking to escape Australia cause of this crap. Beautiful land, but no one should have to live there with such idiots running the place. Many here wonder why we have such bad 'anti-gaming' activists... well now you know, they are people who would of been soooo very happy with the Spanish inquisition and wish they could relive this on the rest of the nation if not the world.

The very people that would get a chuckle out of seeing a roo beaten up.

*Correct statement, never piss off a roo unless you have a gun... those things are mean. After all they where descended from a creature with fangs like a wolf and still know how to take you down even if they are no longer interested in eating your sweet, sweet, blood candies!

This is probably why in America you pretty much can't do anything that would remotely harm a bald eagle.

In this scenario the clown is wearing big pads on his hands and barely touched the kangaroo, I doubt the kangaroo got hurt.
Besides the roo won. I really don't see the difference between this and when Obama wrestled his dog in the white house lawn in front of cheering sheeple.

endangered species. the guy tapped the roo while wearing gigantic pads on his hands and the roo won. I'm failing to see what the issue is, and why the media never complained when Obama wrestled his dog, Obama didn't even wear pads!
