Running with a flintlock pistol and firing and hitting the target
There's a scene later on where a mounted soldier is galloping across his line of sight at about 40 yards distance and he shoots him off with a pistol. That would be a difficult enough shot with a modern handgun.

Plus the artillery firing shots which explode perfectly when they hit the ground, over the heads of their own infantry.

The Patriot pissed me off for blatantly turning the American Civil War into a black and white, good and evil battle. I don't mind a embellishment in historical movies, but Christ, don't just plain make shit up.

Whenever something computer-related happens on TV, it's almost always rage inducing.
Computers doesn't beep constantly, and code doesn't move around.
And computers doesn't fucking explode because of tremors.
Holy shit that pisses me off.
Dude dude dude dude dude... don't forget how movie computers never have a mouse...

I definitely wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have studied A-level Geography. I can no longer watch The Day After Tomorrow without ripping it to shreds. Mr. Bay, if you're reading this: CLIMATE CHANGE TAKES THOUSANDS OF YEARS, NOT A FEW DAYS. Also, HURRICANES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Yeah... not to mention how in nature nothing ever build up to breaking point, breaks, then suddenly decides things weren't so bad so changes it's mind about the course of action it began in the first place.

YES

The "fusion bomb" plot of Batman TDKR was so bullshit due to my A level physics knowledge. Yes, even A level physics let me see how stupid the plot was. It actually did damage my enjoyment of the film slightly.
xD My first thought on that was "why didn't they just blow it up?". I mean a super high-tech device like that won't work if you even so much as scratch a single lens. Meh, it didn't detract from my opinion of the film though.

Only area where I'd consider myself having an above average knowledge is mathematics, and you don't get a great deal of that in films, or not advanced stuff anyway. The most advanced thing I ever saw (and I can't for the life of me remember the film) was where this professor guy had come up with an efficient method of prime factorisation. The way it was explained was using cyclotomic fields as a way to speed up the general number field sieve. And well... that's entirely plausible I guess.

Incidentally, I still didn't understand the plot of pi.

Seriously, they don't have mouses? I must have not looked, because I always thought that they were there. What reason would they have for not having mouses?

Salient point, though I think you meant to say American War of Independence. That is probably the films most laughable aspect. The British being portrayed as cartoon villians, Gibson's character not being a slave owner, the French just showing up at the very end.

I got a good laugh out of those "Germans", most of those Actors can not speak German well enough that i could understand them.
Sarah Chalke is among the best german speakers i've ever seen in american TV.

It's not that hard to find a german, we aren't all that rare. Then again, i always get a good extra laugh out of those Actors trying to convince americans that they're german.
How's the Situation in other Languages? Do the Americans rape your Language as well? :D
I'm from Ireland, we are woefully represented in American media too, from the awful "Jaysus begorrah hidedidedi" accents to the idea that we are all drunken luddites living in rural mudhuts. I'm looking at you, Leap Year.
The worst thing about it is that people do get their education of foreign places and historical events from movies and media, so there will be a large number of people that believe all the stupid stereotypes and incorrect history glorified in these films.

anything medical - don't watch hospitalish-themed series. just... don't. uh-uh, no, stop please god no any 1st semester could tell you AAAAH THE PAIN make it go away

unless you watch it just for fun, which is a good idea for anything, no matter what the theme is, if you know about the stuff i'd guess :D

and what i think pretty much all of us here can agree on: the depiction of
-computers/their use in the visual media *beep bop beeep* *windows popping up everywhere* *no mouse whatsoever present*
-video game(r)s

if you'll excuse me, i have to check this blurry-ish MRI which strongly resembles an oooold x-ray, to find the green thing in the middle of the blue thing (although everything is grey), that cause the patient to spit blood - you know, 'cause, like, every severe illness makes you spit blood (only a few drops, mind you)

Because Hollywood thinks the only way to show that someone's a whiz on a computer, is by showing them type really fast.

The absolute worst example I've ever seen would have to be this absolute beauty. Be sure to stay for the grand finish:

Mostly anything with biology. I've taken enough and a varied selection of courses to know, most of the time, when a movie is pulling a rabbit out of its ass. Its get pretty funny too when you manage to intertwine a bunch of different fields and see how for example there is no way this group of X can survive here so there goes the premise for the movie.

Also some stuff with computers. While I haven't studied this at a post secondary level I've done enough with them to know what can and can't pretty reasonably be done.

Most of the time though I'm not as bothered by a movie breaking real science (unless the movie is attempting to be realistic), but it bothers me more when they break their own rules. Why even establish those fukin rules if you're just gonna break them when convenient.

Not really. I've studied some philosophy, and the closest that it's gotten me is in Mass Effect 3 when Keidan talks about how maybe not all soldiers in war actually supports the cause, but they are forced to fight anyway. When hearing him talk about things like that I was a little disappointed, because stuff like that is basically philosophy 101, and not very thought provoking stuff.

I am a practitioner of ninjutsu, and I really can't help but notice how incorrectly ninjas or their arts are portrayed in movies and video-games. Say, TMNT. Or for example, games like perhaps Mortal Kombat. Sometimes it bothers me. For example, the take-downs in some Splinter Cell games, appear to mimic ninjutsu's stealth techniques incorrectly. Don't even get me started on Ninja Gaiden.

I realize it's all just sacrificed for fun and to look 'cool', but I feel partially offended by the often-incorrect representation of the martial art. No, Ryu is not a 'ninja'. He's a guy with flashy moves and big swords dressed in a funny costume that doesn't even have any practical purpose. And it always breaks immersion for me when those kind of characters are called ninjas.

Depends on the situation. For example I can suspend my disbelief when say a Sci-fi show is making up complete nonsense, but it really drives me crazy if they misrepresent actual concepts that are well grounded/understood. Quantum mechanics gets thrown through the grinder a lot and it always makes me cringe. Also fake math makes me take notice and go what the hell is that gibberish.

I have a bachelors degree in English and Sociology. It has made me see how badly written some books really are. The plots can be enjoyable and brilliant, but damn some writers can be so lazy and sloppy. Even books like The Godfather have sloppy mistakes.

A- level Media Studies ruined the way I watch films for a short while. It made me look out for mistakes and things instead of just enjoying the film. Also studying geography ruined all the natural disaster movies for me. Climate change takes hundreds if not thousands of years! It doesn't just suddenly happen! It also doesn't just suddenly stop!

Studying WW1 extensively for near on 10 years makes me look at some films and shout "wrong! wrong wrong wrong!"

Also seeing people play instruments in films and on TV but their movements do not match up in any shape or form to what they are playing. That is the damn reason I can't sit back and enjoy Every Which Way but Loose. That damn woman does not know how to play the guitar.
