I can run Crysis with everything on high settings, but GTA IV is my main benchmark game as it is incredibly poorly optimized. I played through that game on my old PC with everything on low at about 15 fps. My new PC gets about 45 FPS with most settings on high.

Don't have much of a problem with most new games though.

Hmmm, I can monster through Crysis on the highest graphics settings, but my PC chuggs like a ***** during action segments of Mirrors Edge? Anybody make sense of that for me?

Can run both Crysis games no problem, the one game thats really given the system a real hammering is Arma 2 with about 400 ai running around at a view distance of 30,000m. Its the only thing that has been able to bring my computer to its knees.

I can run crysis 1 on max settings 1920x1080 resolution... but the framerate ingame is like 10-30 fps :-( and I get weird sound bugs.

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+ windsor (underclocked at 2400 MHz since I get BSODs if I run games at 2800 factory default or overclock at 3 GHz) , ATI Radeon HD 5770 clocked at 930 MHz, ASUSTeK m2n8 vmx, 4gb ddr2 ram, 1920x1080 lg monitor, WD 2tb caviar green hdd.

I run The Witcher 2 at both the lowest and the maximum settings (SSAA off) at around 20-30 fps (10 at the chapter 2 iorveth climax)

I run Minecraft at fancy settings and far draw distance at over 60 fps average, 15 when I'm spamming TNTs.

I run Fallout:New Vegas at max settings max MSAA max AF and get around 30 fps.

I run ME2 at max settings max AF no MSAA (ME2 runs on unreal 3 engine so you have to edit some files or force the gpu to enable MSAA) and I get 60 fps average. Same with UT3 (I love unreal engine because it runs so beautifully too bad they only use it on boring brown shooters)

Is it normal for me to get choppy framerates and sound glitches for Crysis?

That might be why
Crysis is probably gpu bottlenecked, but also optimized for quad core cpus.

I'm thinking about upgrading my old PSU, mobo and cpu (case too since my cat made the front of my case yucky) with an ASUS AM3+ board and a phenom cpu. I'm poor and the hardware isn't available locally though, and I'm too lazy and not too confident about switching all those parts, doing another install of my OS, backing up all my data, etc.

My PC can run Metro 2033 on high settings no problem. I set it down from DX11 though, it was running fine but looking too crisp? is that possible? idk it just looked better slightly less 'crisp' in DX10. There is a distinct possibility that i am crazy however. That thought has crossed my mind...

DX11 has tessellation, which in my opinion looks amazing so I use it wherever possible.

I haven't tried Crysis yet but looking at the blogs, everyone else with my computer had their GPU melt down into a pool of apologetic silicon. But I can Minecraft 24/7! XD

My PC can run Crysis 2 on max settings although it probably needs a ram upgrade to run it well.

Crysis 1 on High (not max) at 1920x1080 and 4xMSAA and Crysis 2 on Very High to Extreme (that's actually medium to high settings but Crytek got a bit cocky) 1920x1080 dx11 off. My processor and RAM are hugely outdated but I put a beast of graphics card in there.

I'm confident my computer could run any game you care to name at high settings. Most strenuous game I've ever run was Crysis 2. Highest settings, *****.
Since Crysis 2 is better optimised, I can do the same thing with Crysis.
