So, as you may recall from one of my previous topics, me and my friends are making an amatuer movie. We have decided to practice our filming at school. So as we´re shooting a dramatic scene a teacher comes up and tells us we can´t film in the school.

I ask him why. He responds with "That´s just how it is"
Obviously, i find this retarded.

So, any stupid rules at your school/work?

No hats, and you can only wear back packs up to your locker. Because that would stop someone with a gun, wouldn't it? No, it would start their spree near the lockers, which are co-incidentally on the opposite side of the school that the principal's office is on.

my first primary school had a strict "no running" rule....... IN THE PLAYGROUND! no joke! they were actually THAT stupid! eventually they were torn apart by angry parents so they changed the rule to "no running *wildly*" WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!?! yup, a very stupid school. they never did change their "no ball games" rule

The no hats in school rule. What is it preventing? Hat-hair in classrooms? Maybe some people are dumb enough to put it over their faces and sleep, but that just makes the sleepers easier to pinpoint.

Also, no cell phones anywhere. Not even at lunch. If you're on school property and you have your phone out, it's off to the principles office with you. Why can't I call home at lunch and see if the daily agenda has changed in any way, shape, or form that could be detrimental to me getting home on time?

My thought a dressing code in particularly is this: if you aren't a reprisentative, I don't see the problem of me coming to my job with a mohawk,a band shirt walking on flip flops if I wanted to.
I see it more as showing you are tolerant towards apperence and maybe even serious about just getting the right people for the right job, regardless of a suit and tie.
But with the jobs I had in the past, I knew where I needed to dress smart and behave and where it wasn't a problem.

I'm not allowed a desktop fan in a 25c office with not air conditioning. Oh, why you ask?

Health and safety; I could potentially blow dust into people lungs resulting in a deteriotation of other people's health and well being?

My secondary school had the old no smoking at any time even after school hours and the facial hair ban, you couldn't have any of any form or you'd be either sent home or made to shave in the head of years office with some shit second hand razor. Hair length was also limited as a boy, nothing below shoulder height which didn't really bother me but still.. fascism. ;)

My school and work are pretty cool about rules. So no stupid ones. I came dressed as a Pirate to school one day (for talk like a pirate day) and none of the teachers said anything.

One of my friends is in the Army and he says you're not allowed to Loot. What kind of rule is that?

In my high school your not allowed to wear a shirt with a crown on it. xDDD

Plus they thought the assassin's creed symbol and my silent hill homecoming save point necklace was a gang sign.

Actually not filming on private property is not retarded at all... it's completely legal and correct.

In the real world of film typically if you pick somewhere you want to film you will need to risk assess the site, get permision and set specific dates and inform people. It's worth noting if you intend on doing certain things, for instance fake weaponry the police need to know as well.

It's not just a case of picking up a camera and shooting whatever you want, just like you need permision and probably have to pay a charge if you want to use copyrighted music in anything you film for public consumption.

Where I work, yes; we have coding standards and quality assurance policies. But these are standard in software houses.

We are not allowed to wears scarves during winter because they show off our "individuality" and that supposedly makes us want to "rebel". I just don't get it at all.

The whole uniform code is pretty annoying. Only school scarves and badges are allowed, and you know what they're introducing next year? School berets. Dear god. Of all things that require changing at my school, they go ahead and design school berets. Shirt buttons done all the way up, tie done up, and we have to wear our blazers to and from school. If they're really so concerned about the way we wear our uniform, then they should just get rid of it. Then no one would know what school we're from, and we'd be unable to bring any shame to the school.

And I'm not a huge fan of my school's policy regarding VCE subjects either. You can't take 6 unit 3/4 subjects in year 12, for one. If anyone's able to cope with that many subjects, it'd be a student from my school. We are notorious for being...how to put. Overachievers. And while I can understand why, they don't let us hug people of the opposite sex in public while we're wearing our school uniform. Not that it stops many of us from doing so anyway.

Other than sweeps, I feel my school's rules are fair enough.
