Cigarettes I can take or leave but Cigars actually taste pretty good, not that I'd encourage smoking them frequently given how unhealthy they are.

It's funny you should say that, while I do agree with the sentiment, it was actually my parents being smokers that put me off of smoking for the longest time.

Good luck on your project!

Answers: 1. Male
2. Thirty-eight
3. North America
4. Nope. Used 'em twice though.
5. Cigarettes when I had my encounters.
6. Not really, no. Cigs are way too expensive to consider using, even if there was a pain free way to get rid of 'em.
7. Married one. She didn't coax me into starting and even tried to quit.
8. Ate my first cigarette at three. Yes, I ate it. It did not endear them to me.
9. Last held a lit cigarette at twenty-three. Was using it as a character prop in a play. I did my best not to inhale.
10. Vomiting did the trick the first time out. The role ended and I tossed the pack the second time.
11. It truly depends. Smoking cessation programs are quite effective provided there's a method employed to help break the habit of using nicotine as well as gradual removal of the substance. Most replacement items, like gum or patches, don't work because there's no behavioural aspect accompanying the nicotine step-down. Then again, personal willpower is a big factor in quitting too. There are folks who drop narcotics cold turkey and that kind of steel in the spine makes me stand in awe.
12. Again, it depends. Some quit for lack of money, some out of self-preservation (being in an oxygen tent can work wonders for motivation), others out of sheer cussedness. I've known folks who quit because their nicotine hit a certain price level and they said, "Screw it. I'm done." If I had to give a most prevelant reason, I'd say relationship influence, as in people you know asking you to quit and being willing to help.

5. Ciqarettes - kinda... Wink wink 'n all that.

7. I guess so, but married a long time so hard to answer sensibly!
8. 20 or so. But I've never smoked a plain cigarette.
9. I haven't stopped exactly, but I haven't smoked in about a year and a half. I'd smoke again, though.
10. No, I just ran out of... er... mixers, and didn't get any more in.
11. They never helped my Mum, who smoked for years and tried everything. I wouldn't use them myself.
12. Health, obviously. And it's nice not to stink.

I can't help but feel I'm not being too helpful. If anything you're probably getting skewed results by asking only Escapists, if that's what you're doing.
