I disagree. I mean, I guess it was interesting enough to watch, and it was definitely something much different than pretty much anything else you'll ever see. I would say it's worth watching if you're bored flipping channels and see it on just because of that. But a must watch? Hell no. The whole premise of "some crazy schitzoid emo kid talks to a magic bunny man from the future" seems like something you would see in a satire, or some bullshitty comedy where the writers are trying way too hard to be random, but it takes itself completely seriously. There's all these plotlines that come from nowhere and go nowhere (like the one with the fat asian girl) that the movie could have done without and the ones that DO matter aren't explained or exposed nearly as well as they should've been. Then there's the ending, which is probably the biggest unexplained deus ex machina I've ever seen in anything ever. It makes absolutely NO fucking sense at all and comes out of nowhere. If it was executed in a more coherent manner, it might have been a bit better. The way it played out seemed like it was supposed to be this deep, thought provoking abstract thing, but all I really saw it as was a strange and really fucking incoherent movie. I have a weird relationship with Donnie Darko. On one hand I thought it was completely retarded and it sucked balls. On the other hand I thought it was interesting enough to where it actually bothers me that I can't seem to untangle the proverbial spaghetti of plotlines. I'll at least give it points for originality.
