If by morden horror movies you mean Saw, then no I don't want to see some jackass with a puppet judge people, hold them up to his expectations and believes that by putting them in traps that will kill or maim them slowly and painfully (most traps would kill you do to the set up like the angel trap that woman would have bled to death anyways and have a disfigured hand) will make them "have a new found purpose in life" or some shit like that. I find that shit sickening, it's some creep in an abandoned building tormenting people because he believe it will bring epipinies or redemption or some shit. The only thing that scares me about them is the fact that they made 5 movies, which people have paid good money for, to see ordinary people getting brutally executed by some asshole who doesen't like their lifestyle.
Yeah, the torture porn isn't really the most philosophically driven.

One exception, for me anyway.

Dexter.

I love that show.

The trailer was pretty coy about revealing much, but with Del Toro attached it will probably be worth a look.

There's been some pretty decent horror stuff coming out over the last little while. Drag Me To Hell was a fun return to form for Sam Raimi. My Bloody Valentine wasn't spectacular, but it was entertaining and didn't take itself too seriously. The last horror movie I rented was The Mist, which I honestly wasn't expecting much of going by the trailers, but it was pretty fantastic.

It hasn't all been good, of course, per the "ninety percent of everything is crud" law. Particularly unimpressive are the recent starlet vehicle pieces, a la Jennifer's Body, The Unborn and The Haunting Of Molly Hartley. And how many Saw and Final Destination movies are audiences prepared to sit through before they get bored of paying to see the same thing over and over again?

Ah well. Hopefully Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark will help tide us over until At The Mountains Of Madness.

Awww.............not even a tiny bit?
No, like, not at all. I'd rather have my sense of awe or love or hope or some other mentally relevant feeling stimulated by a movie/game/book.

Adrenaline exists to tell your body to MOVEMOVEMOVEYOUREFUCKEDMOVEMOVEMOVEDEATHISCOMINGMOVEMOVEYOUREABOUTTOBEEATENMOVEMOVEMOVEMOVE!!!
,not to give you pleasure.
Horror is like spicy food. It's there to make you avoid it, but you come back for more because it's in harmless amounts and it exposes you to new and unique experiences.

NOOOO!!! Down, Mr. Whiskers! I wasn't attacking; just trying to defend anyone who dare denies the "something in my eye" story.

Why do people like being scared? Last horror movie I saw was White Noise and it wasn't bad but I can't watch this stuff.
As a fan of changing ones own pantaloons, going on ghost hunts, and living for those moments where your body doesn't know what else to do but force you to scream like a lil girl (not to mention living in a house that used to have some really weird and unexplainable stuff happen in and around it), I can say that it's probably for the same reason people like to go sky diving and mountain climbing and all that fun stuff...

While that kind of hobby can be a lot more dangerous than what I have an interest in, the comparison is that they supply a thrilling experience. In forms of horror games, and movies, it's a really safe way to give you that thrill without any sort of danger. Though I am not a fan of putting myself in any severely dangerous situation nor would I ever want myself or anyone else to be in that situation.

Not to mention, unless I'm the first to be contaminated, I sure as hell know I'll be surviving the zombie invasion! :D

Edit:

I hope this movie is good, it's really rare these days for horror movies to take the road of unexplainable scary creature. These days it seems to be all about the psycho humans or spooky ghosts. Which with ghosts, it's all far to exaggerated for my tastes.

Zombie movies have turned into action movies in order to survive, and as of late the only really scary horror flick I've seen was Paranormal Activity, but mostly because that one struck close to home.

Same thing happened with me when I watched The Mist. It was pretty good. I still wanna see that Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Looks good.

Awww.......here you go. For support.
sorry.......

Yay! How can someone not love something that adorable? That just made my night. My best friend's nickname for me is bunny, which just made that even better.
That's right Mr. Fluffers, chase away the creepy fucking whispering narrator.
I'm so cruel, but I can't resist. [http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=marble+hornets&aq=f]
I, however, can resist clicking links. I've been up for 17 hours after only an hour of sleep. I think I'd end up in the fetal position crying and peeing on myself. That's not an attractive look.
Wait, from the Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark trailer?

In that case, continue to resist. Marble Hornets is ALOT worse than that...

Wow, that looks really good. I'm a huge fan of horror films even though I've never really seen a good one. Maybe this will make horror films scary again!

Marble hornets? What is that exactly? I don't want to watch them yet because if it's scary then it'll be something that I would want to watch with the girlfriend since we're both horror buffs.

Could some one throw me a quick explanation?
