Well, I'd have to agree witht OP's well...original post.
People who wear things that represent something they're not bug me as well.
You're an imposter and aren't doing the real people justice.
OMG, somebody who actually agreed with me! There is hope in the world. I had given up on this forum and looked back out of curiousity.

I really hate it when people say "Twilight are the best books ever!" If you enjoy those books, fine; but people who say that usually have never read Dostojevskij (Swedish spelling), Cervantes, Hesse, Murakami, or the wonderful Proust, so how can they determine what books are the best ever?
I agreed with up to Proust.
God I hate Proust. Except his approach to homosexuality, which was refreshing. But gods I hate him.
Will no one rid me of this turbulent Proust? Heh. I made a funny.

Bums? what are you talking about?... ho I see, the same arguement I hear from most traditional MA's... "it's just a bunch of idiots thrown into a cage", no it's not... a lot of effort goes into our training, the fighting is a lot more complex then most people think, sure it doesn't look all flashy but that doesn't mean it's not hard work or nothings going on.
No need to be offended man. Keep it cool.

I don't think the people are idiots, I just think martial arts don't mix well which makes the idea of mixed martial arts tournament pretty silly in my opinion. I respect most of the traditional arts that are involved like Jiu-jitsu and karate and such, but if mixed and presented in this format most of the skill of the single sports is removed. It's so unbalanced because there are so many different techniques, styles out there. Almost every match is a complete missmatch. If they'd focus on ground moves in itself then you'd have a lot more refined sport. If they'd focus on striking only, you'd have a lot more of a refined sport.

If you have this terrific, karate striker and he gets taken down by a grappler, the match is essentially over after 2 minutes of wrestling on the ground. It just doesn't make for a good mix. The individual disciplines are much more polished and make for more skilled fighting.

I think it's flashy. It makes for good viewing. But if you'd take the top guy and pit him against the world's leading wrestler or against the world's leading boxer, he'd get dismatled because the guys practicing individual sports have a much more refined set of skills.
While I understand your point, watching people trained in a specific style of fighting go at it is usually quite entertaining, I disagree that MMA is a bad mix. It's more a reflection of reality than the stylized matches between two karate experts. If someone attacked me, in a real situation, I wouldn't care about technique or whatnot, I'd be going straight for the groin, eyes, etc. to take him out ASAP. Those moves aren't allowed in most MMA events, but it is a more realistic scenario between a couple fighters.
Check out Krav Maga. They train in a way that would handicap or kill their opponents.

I think you got one thing wrong: not because you wear dogtags, doesn't mean you are pretending to be some military guy, or you served. It's a fashion thing. Just don't get annoyed so much. Have you tried sleeping?
Yeah, I got some sleep...still getting used to working night shift. I feel better now.

I apologize to anybody who misunderstands this. I wrote it while sleep deprived and irritated. It was meant as a rant about people I know and was wondering if anybody else had similar experiences. I would edit it but then people's responses wouldn't make sense so I'll leave it as is.

I may just be mean but these things bug me. First, people who wear dog tags but have never served. If you're going to wear them, at least know their purpose please. (For anybody who doesn't know, they are used for the identification of dead remains that would be otherwise unknown). Also, if you are a military spouse you are NOT part of the military. Yeah, I realize it's difficult and all and I do commend them for what they do but they did NOT enlist (or become an officer), have not gone through the training and are not risking their lives for their country. Don't claim to be what you are not. Also, people who wear MMA shirts but can't fight.

OT:Does this bug anybody else or are there similar things that bug you?
I've seen dogtags here only on young children, so that if they lose their parents while on the beach/big city/whatever they have the adress and phone number of their parents on them. I don't recall seeing an older person with dogtags on.

That's a pretty smart idea, thanx. I'm going to get some for my daughter when she gets older.

Scene kids wearing Cradle of Filth shirts make me grin a little, especially when they fail to recognise a Cradle song if it comes on.

The only falsifying that actually angers me is people online who think they're emotionally unbalanced and ultra violent people who are barely kept from lashing out at others by what we humans call 'social restraint'. There's something about that degree of nihilistic self aggrandisement that sets my teeth on edge, I don't have time to dig that picture out but you know the kind I mean...

EDIT: People who think that others behaving in the socially 'normal' manner are automatically mindless sheep. Like that t-shirt, 'you laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you are all the same'. No, they laugh at you because you're a man wearing make-up and you're wearing trousers covered in zips that look like sails. I love metal and used to dig the Gothic look but seriously, most 'alternative' fashion is hilarious.
You just summed up every point i was going to write. Thank you. The Internet psycho and the elitist metal heads are the most annoying people i meet in day to day life.
what are metal elitists? are those the people who think metal is the ultimate genre of music and anything else sucks sorry if this was a stupid question

O.T. the people who say they can knock anyone out
Yeah you hit it right on the head, the people that refuse to listen to other types of music, automatically dismiss all other genres as mainstream crap and view fan's of any other type of music as sheep.

As a male there is only one type of shirt I don't know if I should like or dislike, when women have shirts with text on them meant to be read.
Reason: If it's on the front side they think you're a perv watching their boobs and if it's on the back and they turn around they think you're either stalking or checking them out which is not better than the first one in any way.

I wear clothes brands such as Mantaray, Quicksilver, Animal and Billabong- dispite being supposidly aimed at surfers and skaters, i wear them anyway because i like how they look. I'm an introverted student whom enjoys creative writing and gaming- hardly the target audience of these said clothing brands, but frankly, i don't care, i wear them anyway because i like how the clothing looks. I'm not pretending to be a skater or a surfboarder, i just think the clothes look good so i wear them.

I hate people who wear dog tags and haven't served not because of the act in and of it's self it just the people who do tend to be gangsta jerks who would wear a bullet proof vest if they weren't afraid of the school taking it away, on the subject of mma shirts it doesn't matter if they wore like an mma gym shirt it would be different.

My only problem with this sentiment is that the same symbol may mean vastly different things for 2 different people. While wearing a dog tag might have some sentimental value for some people like OP and you, others might simply not feel that there is any meanings attached to it.

But I would have to ask, what would you consider to be a dog tag? I have never seen a real one, and soldiers in my country don't actually wear them. I wear a solid piece of metal that looks like a dog tag, but has a picture of my best friends laser-etched on it. I guess that wouldn't count, huh?

So many topics here that I can agree with.

On the side of the people who claim to be psychopaths, sociopaths, schizophrenic, or any other mental disorder is just stupid and infuriating. I had a friend who claimed to have D.I.D./M.P.D. and it's just stupid. I don't know if I have any mental disorders (though it runs in my family, mother had S.A.D. and brother was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia) I would like to get a psychological evaluation just to be safe when I get enough money to do so. I'm someone who'd vent out my rage by saying something like "I would beat the crap out of that guy" for whatever reason, wait five minutes to cool down and then continue, "yeah, I wouldn't really, I'd probably get my ass handed to me".

OT: One thing I hate is when people bring up the colonization of the America's to try and prove their point about something. I'm apart of a tribe (Band of Pomo Indians) and albeit I'm only a quarter American Indian, I still try to know about as much going on in Indian Country, although I haven't gotten anything recently (probably going to subscribe to the Indian Country newspaper soon) I don't know any Indians who use this argument or even hold much of a grudge now a days, because it's in the past, or at least that's my opinion, it's in the past.
/Rant

Edit: Just remembered that Indian Country News has a website, so scratch that Newspaper comment.

Metal elitists are the people who go beyond thinking metal is the ultimate genre and instead attack people who like a different flavor of metal than they do. It's merely a matter of opinions, but some people will tell you that this:
is the greatest music ever because it is "deep". I will argue that it is crappy lo-fi screeching. Some will also say that "metalcore" is entirely stupid because its fans are all "scene kids" and not real metal fans or some such nonsense.
oh ok btw what the hell was that song you put in the spoiler I think it made me die a little inside
That "song", and I use the term loosely here, is "Det Som En Gang Var" by Burzum. Burzum is just one dude from Norway who recently got out of jail for murdering another black metal artist back in the early 90s. I will admit that the keyboards and guitar riff are kind of neat, but as soon as the vocal comes in I just want to poke out my ear drums with a q-tip. Also, the name Burzum comes from the text written inside the One Ring from Lord of the Rings. Talk about nerdy. :p
