Don't Forget To Save!

Remembering Final Fantasy IX and Lost Odyssey, I also remembered those times where I'd rage-quit and stop playing for about a week or so simply because I didn't save. Sometimes I didn't save for a few hours...

So I ask you all this: What game(s) have you forgotten to save in, died, and had to restart from a save file that was way back? What was your reaction to this?

I was playing Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation and at the end you have to heat up or cool off the key card, remember?

I didn't save after the fight with Sniper Wolf and I died during the fight against Metal Gear REX. That really sucked. I immediately turned off the console and didn't play the game for a few days.

EDIT: Oh, and I also didn't save after I reached the Zanarkand Ruins in FFX. I died during the final fight against Sin. I think I didn't even touch that game for almost a month after that happened.

My quicksave and autosave got currupted.

40 hours , gone, wiped out in 2 seconds.

Oblivion, i did the quest completely wrong and forgot to save before i went in so i had to do a large chunk again, the same goes for folklore too i was at the mini boss and died and had to start the same realm again.

Did the whole "cure for vampireisim" quest. It autosaved but some glitch caused it to get deledted.

how can you die in the final boss fight? the game casts autolife on all your characters!

morrowind: completed mages, thieves guild and the main quest up to the dissident priests in one go. did not rest or wait for the whole period. jumped to get away from a mob of cliff racers (didnt feel like fighting them) and landed in a lava pit where my character become stuck on the geometry and burned to death

i just sat there, staring at the screen for ten mintues. then i woke up four hours later with a bruise on my forehead.

amazingly not....I guess my couch broke its fall

Whenever this happens to me I start the game over. Usuall because I've lost 2 or 3 hours. That is unacceptable!

Dues Ex, Pokemon, Final Fantasy... These games need autosave!

Gahh, I feel everybody's pain here. I learned my lessons a few times, so now I save two or three time in a row, just in case. I also save right after the autosave.

The final boss fight is Yu Yevon, but I died in the fight before that, against Jecht, Sin, whatever.

You have my sincerest condolences. I'd be braindead for several hours if that happened to me. I can tell, I finished every quest in Oblivion and it took me more than 100 hours.

Metal gear solid 4, didn't save for the entire act 1 and after about an hour and a half got killed . Rage-quit, 2 days later went back and it turns out it was only 20 minutes if i skipped the cutscenes.
Also knights of the old republic, installed a new graphics card and for some reason it wouldnt allow me load my saves, 10 hours of play gone

KotOR which is not a good idea. I and worked my way into the hidden crystal cave and forgot where is was. The next week was not good for anyone that knew me, lived in my area etc.

Even worse though I had a pokemon-a-thon and went through the last 3 gyms an two batteries. I must have been so into it that i didn't notice the red light flashin on my DS until (power down)

The game did the same thing to me and after it did that I never played it again. I sold it the next day to get Fallout 3.
