Evil Genius. Four Autosaves and a manual save got corrupted. I had to back track to an autosave 6 hours back and start from there.

I hadn't saved in FFX in ten hours when I first went up against Seymour.

KotOR 2 bugged out on me and I wasted 6 hours.
The first few hours of KotOR 2 weren't fun at all. That must suck if you started over. Almost the same thing happened to me, but instead of KotOR 2, it was the first one; I was at the part where you get to fight Bastila in the old ruins...I tried to load my game and it was corrupt. Haven't played KotOR since.

Just to top this, when I got my Elite I transferred all my saves over to my new HDD and somehow my 130 hour Oblivion save was deleted.

I nearly cried.
That seems like the worst pain ever... At least you got to go through character creation and escaping the jail again.

Oh the worst game for this was the early Tomb Raider games. I remember the firey rage that took over when I would miss a jump only to realize that I had not saved in an hour. Those jumps were very easy to miss.

Also FF7. I remember one instance where I had trained chocobo's for hours and birthed a golden. Then as i was transversing the world looking for secret, got into a random encounter with some monster (my memory says its a marlboro) and yep wiped out the party. had not saved, had to do it over from scratch. Auto saving is the greatest thing ever to come to gaming.

the entire part between shadow temple and the end of the game in Zelda OoT...
Are you telling me you never once paused the game and went to the menu during that bit? I call bullshit on that because you must have to change your equipment!

Or that the game lets you continue from that very room. The same call for BS goes to 'veterans' of Metal Gear Solid anything. The end says 'Continue' or 'Exit' for a reason, duckies.

No sympathy for not hitting Continue.

Played through all of pokemon saphire in a day, had levelled up a gyrados to some rediculous level, about 80 i think, then the power of my GameBoy went.

I was devastated, I wanted to do it without saving, so I'd played solid.

This has happened a lot with Fallout (1,2 and 3) Oblivion, Evil Genius and especially Stronghold.

Argh just thinking of it is reminding me of all those lost hours.

The Star Wars Episode I game for the PS1. I finally got past that goddamn Theed level, which I had been stuck on for a month straight (I was ten) and I got up, without thinking turned my console off, and went to dinner.

Also I lost 4 hours of work on a music project that I had to do for my recording class in high school because I didn't save and the power went out. I'm now a compulsive saver.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Got to the end of a dungeon. Saved, and exited. I reloaded for it to put me outside of it with the same amount of health and the same amount of items but obviously not in the same location. I was so frustrated at that stupid game design I didn't play it again.

Final Fantasy VII for PC. Moved to a new CPU and Disk 2 Saves wouldnt load....I had no remaining Disc 1 saves. Ragequit for like a month then started again on PS1

Also I regularly lost ~1h on Baldurs Gate Dungeons. That always ended up with a Ragequit for a day or 2

I've got an old DS with a weak battery, maybe 30 min of life, so I keep it plugged in all the time. It led me to develop the bad habit of not turning my DS off very often. So I was doing so breeding before work, trying to hatch a shiny charmander. I finally found one after about 6 days of gameplay, then left for work. When I came home I discovered my dog had knocked my ds off my nightstand and unplugged it. Even in sleep mode it didn't have the power to survive an 8hr work day.

I no longer have a dog.......

Ok kidding on the last part, but I was pissed for a few days.

I don't think I'd ever be able to play Oblivion again if that happened to me...
Yeah, I didn't touch the game for a few months, until a friend told me about a large overhaul mod. That got me playing again, but now I have many, many saves. For backup.

That hurts... that hurts bad.

I had a save go currupt on me in Oblivion with a glitch that prevented me from finishing the last thieves guild quest.

My previous save was about 3 hours before it, but hey... it's a Beth game, we should have known to save every five minues.
Yeah, now I have the Unoffical patch, which fixes the vast majority of bugs Beth left in the game.

you think that,s bad i remember playing pokemon blue i had over 300 hours on it it only records to 300 so probable i was over 4 or 500.
i just couldn,t reset it i wasted so much time on it.

and then the game just broke(prob excessive playing)and i was free.
i litteraly felt free.
Don't screw with me when it comes to the pokemon games. My Crystal version got currupt. It had my best and favorite pokemon on it. My party and many in storage were lvl 70+, all leveld the old fashined way, no cheats. It even had my lvl 100 Charizard from my pokemon Yellow, a game I got when I was like 8 years old. My lvl 100 Typhlosion from my Silver version. Plus it had all the legendary dogs, all hunted down and captured, which took my many months to find, track down, and capture. It also had my Mewtwo from my red version.

Plus, it had a Mew and Celebi I got from special events at my local Toys 'R' Us.

Essentially, when it got currupted, it destroyed years of hard work and dedication.

List of my old pokemon party:

lvl 70 Scizor
lvl 72 Houndoom
lvl 75 Suicune
lvl 77 Tyranitar
lvl 100 Charizard
lvl 100 Typhlosion

I will never forget them.

I cried when it got currupted. I am not ashamed to admit it.
I'm even tearing up now...

I lost over 5 hours of playtime on FFVII once due to a power outage, but that's not the worst thing that happened to me. The worst was when I saved after 7 hours of playing Vandal Hearts 2 (which I have nicknamed Eleanor because i took 6 or 7 attempts to beat that game thanks to various problems involving memory cards or disc scratches) on the PS1 and it worked. No problems. Until my memory card got corrupted and I lost that file. None of the others, they still worked fine, just my VH2 save file. After a day or two of being furious I restarted. Stupid Eleanor.

I beat Fable 2 and had quite a few hours of playtime and the save got corrupt. That game was insanely easy and short though so it wasn't worth raging over.

Also some Jrpgs that don't let you save when you you want to (All) Get through a long dungeon that took hours only to die because they didn't give me a save point. Looking at you Star ocean 4.

Indigo Prophecy ((aka Fahrenheit..sp?)) i made it a few hours in...and a dog unplugged the power cord, and corrupted the save..it's not that i forgot to save...it's that it got corrupted...that was a few months ago....i still haven't picked up that game..even though i love it

also, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth...was on the fight with Hydra..forgot to save before the Dagon fight...i died....and had to kill Dagon again, then make my way through a few hours of Devil's Reef...then try to kill Hydra again...i decided to say no...fuck this...and i was done for a few days...but it's my favorite game...so i couldn't stay mad at it

Game:Fallout 3 Reaction: Headbutting my PS3 into a wall....
Wow.

I have the opposite problem, I just have a habit of hitting quicksave every 10 minutes or so. I did it in Splinter Cell: CT at the worst time. Penultimate level, 2 minutes from the end, and I'd been quick saving all through the game, so it was my only save slot unless I restarted the level again.

I left it for like 3 months, came back and it took some special kill to perform a reload, take down a guy roll out of sight from the other who was a split second away and take him and another out in like 15 seconds. The game isn't exactly built for action maneuvers.

Fallout3, basically the entire Final Fantasy series and Pokemon Yellow. Oddly enough, they tended to be near the end of the games until I was brutally defeated by the one of the last bosses, FF series was most frustrating to climb back up to of all of them.
