Wasn't it also because the promises weren't kept?
[sub]Germany had to pay for most the war and Austria not as much. Italy was never given what they were promised for helping the Allies in WW 1 which is why they joined the Axis powers. And Japan and Germany were hit the worst out of all the countries in the world on Black Tuesday when the Great Depression began. Hitler and Mussolini took the opportunities of the failing Capitalist and Socialist economics and governments to seize power for Fascism which seemed to be working but actually weren't working, just had good propaganda and become leaders. Hoover doing nothing and trying to have the economy get itself out would have take far too long for the U.S to last. It was thanks to WW II that we got out of the Great Depression. Laissez faire economies go through that boom and bust all the time but the problem is it takes too long for the economy to recover, as is apparent now, and the time of prosperity isn't for too long.
