Don't Write Kinect Off So Early

I'd just like to say and discuss that the fact that everyone is writing Kinect off 5 months early, yet no one here has gotten a chance to play it. Everyone has the same argument about how:
'I'm not paying $150 for a controller.'
'The Kinect doesn't have quality launch titles.'
'Justin Bieber's advertising it!'

First of all, the $150 isn't set in stone, and Microsoft has tried to point this out numerous times. I have a hunch that they're going to be lowering the price, because if they read any gaming website ever, they'll have seen the large flowing of hate over the large price. Yes, $150 is a lot, but if they lower it, like they said it'd be, why complain about a placeholder price?

Second, while yes, a majority of the 16 launch titles look like rehashed Wii Shovelware, but the games Dance Central, Child of Eden, and Milo and Kate look promising. Granted, I hate dancing, and I have the weirdest feeling that a lot of people here hate dancing, but Dance Central looks like plain fun. Child of Eden looks amazing, and despite reports, Milo and Kate apparently has a November 4th release date, unless that's wrong, and the AI there looks amazing.

Quite a few of the upcoming games, like the Star Wars one, are good titles to look forward too.

Third, yeah, Justin Bieber's not your or my cup of tea, deal with it.

So why is everyone rejecting the peripheral before it comes out?

Well, like I said before if they dropped the price by $70 I'd buy it...

I don't know who justin bieber is, but at least molyneux isn't advertising it, then you'd KNOW it was trash without a doubt.

I'm getting it!
It'll be great for my wife who isn't a big gamer, as well as most of our friends, my parents, my sisters, and my nieces and nephews! Plus it look like fun to play with people, which has been confirmed by every preview I've read on it saying how it's fun to play.

Sign me up.

"Don't worry guys, trust me, the second Kinect hits shelves, Jesus will come down from Heaven and have a guitar solo battle against the Devil! TRUST ME!"

The problem is that everyone and their pet dog has been predicting a $150 price point, including Microsoft themselves. The second point is that if you're launch titles smack of shovelware, it's likely that it's going to get worse.

I don't think kinect is beign writte off. It will obviously do very well for the younger owner of xbox 360s.

What is beign written off is the PS Move, at least kinect is different to the Wii, with having no controllers and all movement being tracked by cameras. PS Move is a shameless and blatent copy.

I write it off because a) I hate peripherals and b) I hate motion controls.

No, I will downplay it, and I will continue to call it a horrible piece of garbage.
1. Shovelware that already exists for the Wii.
2. Incompetent Ripoff
3. Microsoft telling me "YOU HAVE TO LIKE IT" makes me despise the product and hope the people in charge of the creation of the Kinect have a special place reserved in hell along with one for those who made IE.

Its potential doesn't really matter, it's the principle of unveiling it to the gaming world and showing absolutely nothing but shovelware, that's insulting... They think we're all stupid enough to buy it regardlesss. That only worked for Nintendo because they had a monopoly on our childhoods, and they're finally coming around and remembering they're a game company.

Plus it costs too much, and it seems like a pretty desperate move.

The only reason I have no intention of getting it is the games. Honestly, I have no interest in Dance Central, and I don't recall seeing Milo and Kate for around a year. To be completely honest, a lot of the things I saw Milo do last year didn't seem possible. That isn't to say it won't work exactly as advertised, but this studio has promised a lot of things in previous games that turned out to be infeasible.

Of course, they may prove me wrong, and if they do I may pick one up later.

Don't make a pointless post so...
Pointless? I was expressing my opinion and asking a question through a short and concise statement, while showing my negative feelings toward the subject at hand. I feel (know) that Kinect is nothing but a Wii knock-off. What purpose is there for anyone to buy Kinect if they already have a Wii? As a matter of fact, Kinect doesn't have any button interface, so as far as I'm concerned, the Wii is superior to Kinect.
Please don't write off someone's comments as pointless unless their being an obvious troll. Even then just ignore them.

I'm usually pretty good with game design, but i can't think of ANYTHING that could work well with Kinect other than minigames and on-rails.

The best you could get from it is just using it for small hand gestures while using a regular controller which seems a bit pants if you ask me.

Kinect fascinates me immensely. If it get's a game worth playing I'll buy it.

Maybe if they even let me use it's voice recognition to streamline things like sending messages I'll get it.
