Most people who own a Xbox like action games like Halo and Gears of war, but Natal is for people who like minigames and Shovelware.

Remembering the little girl playing with "skittles" the tiger cub during the conference still angers me :p

Sony and Nintendo have things that point/direct as well has having the all important buttons.
Kinect does not.
The only thing i can see Kinect doing so far is party games; which is dominated by Wii owners already.

Justin Beiber appeals to prepubescent girls up to kinda creepy women, and as such, that is what one should interpret when considering the new add on. Its for young girls and creepy women.

I'll start giving a toss about Kinect, and Move, and the Wii, as soon as a single good game for them comes out.

As it stands, ALL they have is shovelware... Not interested. And no, the Star Wars "Rail-slasher" crap does not look good. It looks neither pretty to see, or interesting to play.

I never write anything off, as a rule. I was big into gaming when people wrote off Sony's entrance as crazy. This was back when Sega and Nintendo had already destroyed Atari, not to mention a few other smaller game companies.

That being said, I also don't jump on bandwagons. I'm not going to run around saying, "Oooh! I can't wait for the Kinect!"

I'll take the wait and see approach that has served me so well in the past. That way, I won't be disappointed if it fails, and I'll be ready to pick it up if they actually have any titles that look worth playing.

I'll wait for it to collect its fair share of games. Then make my decision based upon that, with any luck at all it'll also have dropped down in price. But till then, I can't say I care for it... or what happens to it.

And regarding the Playstation Move... wasn't Sony's big motion controls the Sixaxis? Whatever happened to that?

I'd just like to say and discuss that the fact that everyone is writing Kinect off 5 months early, yet no one here has gotten a chance to play it. Everyone has the same argument about how:
'I'm not paying $150 for a controller.'
'The Kinect doesn't have quality launch titles.'
'Justin Bieber's advertising it!'

First of all, the $150 isn't set in stone, and Microsoft has tried to point this out numerous times. I have a hunch that they're going to be lowering the price, because if they read any gaming website ever, they'll have seen the large flowing of hate over the large price. Yes, $150 is a lot, but if they lower it, like they said it'd be, why complain about a placeholder price?

Second, while yes, a majority of the 16 launch titles look like rehashed Wii Shovelware, but the games Dance Central, Child of Eden, and Milo and Kate look promising. Granted, I hate dancing, and I have the weirdest feeling that a lot of people here hate dancing, but Dance Central looks like plain fun. Child of Eden looks amazing, and despite reports, Milo and Kate apparently has a November 4th release date, unless that's wrong, and the AI there looks amazing.

Quite a few of the upcoming games, like the Star Wars one, are good titles to look forward too.

Third, yeah, Justin Bieber's not your or my cup of tea, deal with it.

So why is everyone rejecting the peripheral before it comes out?
All the reasons you just listed lol. You could only think of 3 good titles and even those suck ass! Dance Central - wii shovelware, Child of Eden - ok this will be awesome but would be better with a controller and Milo? Seriously? A dating sim with a 10 year old kid? I think Chris Hanson comes knocking at your door as soon as you buy this?

Nah, he's somewhat retired. Pedobear knocks on your door and asks if he can join in. Him or Shotacat... one of them. Maybe both, if you're lucky.

Well, I'm just not interested. I'm fine with a controller, I don't see Microsoft lowering the price much and none of the games interest me. Well, the Star Wars game could be cool, except that holding nothing in your hand takes all the fun away from pretending to wield a lightsabre, and on E3, they guy on the stage moved after the image in the trailer...

As long as they keep it out of the games I want, I'm okay with it.

guh. whilst you obviously shouldn't just write anything off, motion control holds no interest for me. same for 3D. its just a gimmick.

I'm usually pretty good with game design, but i can't think of ANYTHING that could work well with Kinect other than minigames and on-rails.
Think of magic carpet with leaning to steer, forward or back to move in those directions, crounch to accelerate and gestures for spells. Sure it could get exhausting, bur it'd work, easily in fact.

Well said, first of all.

I will concede your point about the price. Microsoft has said in multiple interviews that their is the chance for the price of the Kinect to go down. However, forgive me if my faith in that statement isn't astounding.

I will also concede your point about launch titles [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kinect_games].

However this is my person reason why I will not be purchasing the Kinect (assuming that I have the money available, whatever amount that may be) when it releases: The way it makes use of motion "controls".

The Kinect as we all know is basically a camera that tracks one's movement in the real world and translates it into the game at hand. While a neat bit of technology, I don't think it has a place in the world of video games.

While I personally enjoy games like DDR, or some of the Wii games where standing up is required, I don't like that while playing a Kinect game you absolutely have to be standing and are required to make the motions that are presented by the game. Motion capture technology is usually dodgy at best, so we don't even really know how receptive the camera is going to be.

One thing I do like though is that it will reformat the XBox menu to allow you to flip through the screens with a wave of your hand.

To the point: There are better ways to do motion control, and I think that Microsoft could have thought of one of them.

But it's basically an eyetoy...
That it is
If you were forced to play games standing up, holding a controller, you would. But if someone then offers you a chair, you're going to sit down
I don't want to play games while flailing about, stainding in the middle of my living room
I had an EyeToy and it entertained me for all of about 2 hours. Waste of money

Here's my real gripe with Kinect: Games are about immersing yourself in the experience. The small, intuitive handheld controller becomes forgotten by the player while they stare unblinking at the screen, immersed in the driving, fighting, shooting, whatever it may be
With Kinect, however, you are constantly conscious of the fact that you are the controller, thus being conscious of your every movement and it's consequences in the game. I could never enjoy or be immersed in a game like that

It's a good party toy, but that's all it is as far as I'm concerned

I will definitely buy Kinect if they make a Black and White for it.
