doritos have a nice little niche. the cool flavour has been replicated by many but never matched. some are good but aren't the same. that is why doritos are so fuckin awesome. cheese ones are more orange than dale winton though and taste like feet...not that i have eaten feet.

Yeah, Australia's laws on food additives are pretty lax too. Which is why EVERYTHING contains MSG and makes me mental. They have been in Australia for years. I like them pretty much because they are the only cornchip over here. If there are any better cornchips on sale in Australia can you please point them out to me.

I'd say its like in the UK Walkers has the potato crisp (US=chip) market all sewed up, and if you go into any supermarket, you won't see the dozen or so other brands, just the supermarket brand, Walkers, and then premium brands like Kettle Chips and Pringles.
You only have normal doritos thats why. We in the north have moved on to TACO Doritos. O my GAWD its like an orgasm in your mouth for lack of a better description.
I suppose they're just popular due to a large advertising campaign. But they do have some excellent flavours.
