This is something I've never personally understood. Do all women everywhere leap at toilets bottom first without looking?Sjakie said:'Men, always forget to put the toiletseat down, how inconsiderable."
my reply:
'No, you @^&*%, you forgot to put it UP!'
I was just about to add this, well played.Sjakie said:'Men, always forget to put the toiletseat down, how inconsiderable."

My friends would say "Forget the *****".retyopy said:Girl breaks up with guy, "God, get over it, can't you see she doesn't want you?" guy breaks up with girl, "gee, that Bill sure is an ass."
And don't tell me this doesn't happen. I've seen it.

Well the last part of your response shot down my counter-argument, well playedLoner Jo Jo said:One, what you posted isn't a double standard; it's just somebody being an idiot. That and I've seen both men and women pull that kind of stunt, so you can't claim that this is something only women do. Two, I fail to understand the argument that women can't have equal rights and be treated with common courtesy at the same time. Why, yes, I would like equal pay to a man for the same work, and yes, I would like for my date to get the door for me. Mind you, I don't think that only women deserve "special treatment". Everyone can appreciate common courtesy.
To reply to your question, here's my favorite double standard: If a man gets a door for a woman, it's chivalrous. If a woman gets a door for a man, then he's less of a man to go through it.
Seriously, I have tried to open doors for men before and they refused to go through first. I was just trying to be nice, not challenge your masculinity.
Not friends, obviously. But, just the general female community.artanis_neravar said:I was just about to add this, well played.Sjakie said:'Men, always forget to put the toiletseat down, how inconsiderable."

I wish I lived where you do. I have never even gotten a ticket let alone been in a wreck but I still pay more.Red Albatross said:YOUR likelihood of getting into an accident is based on YOUR driving history and abilities, not your gender. You shot holes in your own argument in the same paragraph that you made it. Everyone paying the same rates is fair. Everyone getting penalized equally for accidents is fair. Likewise, everyone getting equally rewarded for a clean driving record is fair. Having different rates for different genders, no matter what the statistics say (the situation is FAR more complex than you spun it to be), is sexist. End of story.Satsuki666 said:Car insurance is based on the likely hood of you getting into an accident and what kind of car you drive. In Canada women pay less because they better and safer drivers than men. There never was any special treatment, insurance rates are 100% a numbers game.Rawne1980 said:For years in the UK women had cheaper car insurance.
Last year they had to pay the same as us men and they complained, and I quote, "why should we have to pay more just because we're women"....
I'm sorry ladies, you are paying the same as we've always paid now stick your special treatment up your arse.
well, what do you want us to do? spontaenously become women?peruvianskys said:Here are some of the complaints men have:
- If I break something, a woman will blame me but I can't blame a woman for breaking something.
- I can't make jokes about hitting a woman but women can joke about hitting me.
- I'm not allowed to stare at women's bodies but women are allowed to stare at me.
- I can't use derogatory language directed towards women but women can.
Here are some complaints women have:
- One out of every five women will be raped, but only one out of 165 men will be.
- I work the same job as a man, but get paid on average twenty-five cents less an hour.
- I have a 300% higher chance of being murdered by my spouse than a man does.
- I am more likely to die of gender-neutral diseases, and a lower percentage of medical funding goes towards my sex-specific diseases despite their prevalence being higher.
- The vast majority of religious organizations will not allow me any semblance of authority or power despite me showing equal skill with a man.
In short, stop fucking whining, you over-privileged brats. Boo fucking hoo. No one cares if you can't stare at tits or that you have to be extra nice to those pesky ladies, lest they period themselves everywhere over you. Until you're afraid of walking home in the dark, I don't care.
See, the problem is you're talking about the bitchy women and making it out as though we're all like that. Protip--every gender has its bad apples. Guys are not so innocent when it comes to these "double standards," either. Why is it a guy can sleep with a bunch of women he's a stud, but if a woman sleeps with a bunch of guys she's a slut? Why is it when a guy gets into a car accident it's because it's an accident, but when a woman has an accident it's because she's a woman? Why is it that guys in fantasy films and games get reasonable armor, while all the women get is chainmail bikinis? Why are all the famous male porn stars all ugly as sin?Project_Omega said:So yeah, my fellow Escapists. Have you ever been faced with the 'double standard' when interacting with women in some shape or form?
My favorite one is when a man makes a mistake, he is whipped at by the woman for making it, to a ridiculous point, but when the woman does it, its all fine. If you try to point out that its actually her fault, you just get more backslash from her, and then it SOMEHOW gets pinned on YOU.
What is your favourite?
