The head liners have just been announced:-

Slipknot, The Prodigy, Korn, Motley Crue, DragonForce, Devil Driver and Pendulum.

Having been to the two previous festivals I reckon that this one could easily be the best as I love 4 out of the 6 bands and don't dislike Korn or Motley Crue.

So who else is going/planning on going and what do you think of this first announcement.

I feel left out what is this?

I've never thought of download as a metal festival...while the majority of the bands are metal there are alot of other bands that arent. so meh..

Line up so far looks good bar Dragonforce. All i need to hear as being confirmed is either: Slayer, Machine Head, Down, Lamb of God or Turisas and i'm there :)

*edit* to those who don't know what Download Festival is. Its a music festival in the UK. Hope that clears it up lol

Ugh, I don't like Download much, but then again I'm not much of a metal fan. Pendulum is a good choice though.

I've never bought festival tickets based on the headliners alone. In fact, I rarely bother with the main stage headliners because it's too much of a hassle to get a good viewing position that isn't a million miles away. Also... the sort of people who go to Download are not the sort of people I'd want to be surrounded by.

That said, apart from Dragonforce and Motley Crue, that doesn't look too bad. Pendulum is a phenomenal choice.

I've seen most of those bands before, and this looks like a decent show. Dragonforce and Devil Driver are crazy good live. Motle Crue are shit. Pendulum will steal the show!

If Head and David rejoin Korn for this tour, then I'm in.
I Love Korn, but they just aren't the same without those guys.

I'm personally going to wait for a whole line up for both Bloodstock UK and Download. I can assess where I would prefer after that I guess. Download is just a generic music festival now, although a Lamb of God/Machine Head appearance would sway me.

Lamb of God have said that they are going to be there. I don't know what to make of this self confirmation but I agree it would be awesome to see them

THe Prodigy I have a ticket to see when they play Newcastle but I can't go. Pendulum I wanted to go see as well, other than that Slipknot are OK sometimes but they attract a lot of twats and Dragonforce and Motley Crue are easily in my top 5 most hated bands of all time ever. The only festivals for me are ATP and Bangface (sits crying and rocking gently with a 2011 calendar muttering "not long now") or Dominator, ZxZw and Nightmare Outdoors (sits crying rocking gently with a map of Holland muttering "its not THAT far")

Im actually going to see Lamb of God playing in a local club in Sheffield this month. They are my band of 2009 until something drastic comes along. Alas, it would take more than just Lamb of God to sway me to download. The cost of the ticket is huge, and for the same price I can cherry pick some touring bands that I want to see. Well thats my justification anyway. If Machine Head are headlining download I will be in a conundrum.

meh, prodigy are good, pendulum are just a rock band now. motley crue are good just because they're classics. the rest I'd rather have my eyes stabbed out than see. I hate that whole American really mainstream commercialised genre of metal aimed at angst filled prepubescents which appeared in the early 21st century.

last year had kiss which was just awesome. but the hole idea of spending a few days camping with 80000 13 year old boys wearing black nail varnish really makes me quite nauseous

(I love most other festivals by the way)

When i saw The Prodigy at Jersey Live, i didn't think they were that good. Average, but not amazing, for some reason

For sure. Amon Armath and Wintersun at the same festival! One could not dream such things. Lucky for you fella. Hopefully the line up will get a bit more diverse in terms of metal bands. Opeth would be nice, but they are already playing Hammerfest, although I'm not sure the dates clash.

(Sorry about derailing o_O)
