I like the line up but please get over yourselves when it comes to Pendulum. I have been listening to Drum n Bass and Jungle for over a decade and Pendulum come complete with the patented lol disclosed drum beat and high pitched synths, they are nothing new but have got commercial viability just like Roni Size did in 96.

Listen to some LTJ Bukem for decent Liquid/intelligent Drum n bass Jungle

or

Ed Rush and Optical Worm Hole should you want dirty bass lines. Pendulum are to DNB what Greenday are to 70's PUNK.

THe Prodigy I have a ticket to see when they play Newcastle but I can't go. Pendulum I wanted to go see as well, other than that Slipknot are OK sometimes but they attract a lot of twats and Dragonforce and Motley Crue are easily in my top 5 most hated bands of all time ever. The only festivals for me are ATP and Bangface (sits crying and rocking gently with a 2011 calendar muttering "not long now") or Dominator, ZxZw and Nightmare Outdoors (sits crying rocking gently with a map of Holland muttering "its not THAT far")
Oh God can I please buy your ticket? I love The Prodigy and by the time I actually heard they were playing the Newcastle arena it'd already sold out of standing. I was wounded.

What the hell are they booking bands like Motley Crue and Kiss last year? They were never ragingly popular in the UK and most of the people that were real fans of theirs, would likely not be the same people that would be interested in Download. The inclusion of Dragonfarce immediately puts me off as well. I really don't want to have to endure another one of their sets.

The rest of the bands up there look quality so depending on ticket prices I may well invest in one.

Motley Crue and Kiss probably put on 2 of the best shows i've ever seen. Looking forward to this year. Fingers crossed for Heaven and Hell!

ZZ Top? Devil Driver? I'm definately getting a ticket then. But Pendulum suck. Hugely. Prodigy probably shouldn't be there, but they're pretty good. And I hate Korn nearly as much as I hate Pendulum.

I've been to all the Downloads but only enjoyed the music for the first 2. By this I mean I only go to see 1 maybe[/] 2 bands at the festival. The only reason I go now really is because I have so many friends that still go. Friends that have moved away from home for work/uni/family etc. This means £150 to camp with close friends and "visit" old friends is a much cheaper alternative than travelling to see them all separately on the train.

The music for the first 2 years had some form of rock variation, but now it has turned into the Kerrang!/Metal Hammer/Scuzz showcase of all the bands they're affiliated with, showing of the products put forward by the record labels with the fattest cheque book. Giving the same old "legends" and the new releases from "bands" that are just marketed with the same bullshit that pop music is. This means there are really only 3 or 4 DIFFERENT genres in attendance.......not much variety if you ask me.

My other problem after year 1 and 2 was the mentality of people who started to come to these events. Angry teens away from mummy and daddy for a week that'd be determined to act like as much of a dick as possible in the name of "metal" [/throwing the lame cliché horns]. So much idiocy is acceptable with young people getting drunk, high etc. for the first few times, but some (usually the drunks to be honest), feel like they should burn other peoples property, break stuff, belittle other festival goers and then go home and brag about the "riot" started by Steve (1st name off top of my head), The Magnificent Metal-Loving Tool.

To the spoiling minority: stop trying to impress everyone by acting like some form of criminal and just enjoy the tunes, the people and the atmosphere. It doesn't matter who's "more metal" than who and it certainly doesn't matter if someone likes a different type of music to you, I.E. the emo kids. Leave them alone and get on with your own lives. All you're doing is making your 'side' look like a bunch of fascist gimps by picking on smaller sub-culture.

Again, not saying all that attend act like this as me and my girlfriend are regulars. We had a little jam session (acoustic guitar, bongos and me the ocarina) disrupted on the final night 2 years ago by some guy trying to set fire to a heap of rubbish between OUR tents. I wandered over to him, unzipped, pointed my member at his hands/lighter and told him he should stop it or I'll make sure his lighter wouldn't work. He proceeded, as did I.

Morals of the story; Throwing the horns doesn't make you cool AND don't complain about your hands smelling of piss after trying to set someone's camp-site on fire.

Take it easy all and enjoy yourselves if you go again/for the first time.

(EDIT: Wow, sorry......that was a wall and a half!)

*The Truth*
Totally agreed with you there. I went in '05 and '06 and as much as I loved the bands the atmosphere at that festival was just shitty from what I witnessed and got worse from what i've heard. I hate the f*kin kids that go there, described adequately by yourself as "Angry teens away from mummy and daddy for a week that'd be determined to act like as much of a dick as possible in the name of 'metal'". As i'm not musically fusssed I tend to enjoy most the bands on the line up but this years bands are almost tempting me to go this year...Almost

The head liners have just been announced:-

Slipknot, The Prodigy, Korn, Motley Crue, DragonForce, Devil Driver and Pendulum.

Having been to the two previous festivals I reckon that this one could easily be the best as I love 4 out of the 6 bands and don't dislike Korn or Motley Crue.

So who else is going/planning on going and what do you think of this first announcement.
Getting my ticket this afternoon when i get in.
Definatly a good lineup, havnt been dissapointed as of yet.

Only a few days until they announce a 3rd stage haedliner.
I hope Rammstein take the 3rd headline spot but is very doubtful.

But im happy with anything good, great atmosphere, good music and a large varietty of bands to go and see and things to do. Also going with a huge group of mates.

This year is going really good.

I do have to agree alot of people there can be really idiotic and stupid. I really dont get the whole tent burning and alot of the riots and that. People are there to relax, enjoy the music and just have a good time. Then you have these people who just run amok acting like retards.

But that shouldnt put you off the festival ofcourse not everyone is like it. There are alot of nice people and that as well.

What i dont get though is if there are bands that not everyone agrees with such as in 07 when MCR headlined mainstage. It caused alot of shit, people went and bottled them and just where pretty abusive. If you dont like the band. Dont see them! theyre there to perform and people might want to see them and your just ruining the experiance for those who do. Im not a fan of MCR but i went off and did my own thing whilst they where on. Just disrespectful really and really childish. There will be bands you will like, wont like and probably might not have heard of but there is plenty of bands to see and things to do.

People do go over the top to i mean some kid ended up hitting a girl when he was in a mosh pit. She was standing on the outside and trying to move away from the area, some people just need to think before they do stuff ya know.

But all in all it is a good festival, always fun, alot of nice people there bar the gripes ive just wrote about it is a good experiance and a decent few days
