Dragon Age 2 Legacy has restored my faith in Bioware.

Ok I am a very big fan of Dragonage as a franchise and I maintain that Origins is one of the best RPG's out there. But Dragon age 2 really shook my faith in Bioware's ability to produce top quality RPG games.

My major issues with DA2 was laziness. The copy paste scenery was really obvious and more apparent then ever before. Yes I am aware that it was also used in DA:Origins but it was less obvious because of the scope of the game. That is my second point. Having the game focused in one small geographical area is absolutely fine. But that is not compatible with the copy paste syndrome and the very real way in which Bioware limit your ability to explore Kirkwall.

Next on my list was bad story telling. It lurched from 1 protagonist to another which left little focus on what the main issue was. Is the third game going to be focused on the mage-templar war? Are the Qunari going to be involved? It looks like they are treading water and I don't appreciate being treated to a game like that.

Legacy answers all of these negatives and also provides answers to where they are taking the 3rd game, if you look carefully. The new scenery was more varied (although still clearly lifted from other parts of the DA2 game). It was a new area. A big one. And it wasn't in Kirkwall.

Most importantly it is a major stepping point in Biowares defining of the darkspawn who have undergone a complete transformation (ala Qunari). It also fills in some helpful gaps about the darkspawn origins and a loose explanation why Kirkwall is so horrendously bloody and unable to compromise. All of these are important story elements that were neglected in DA2 and contributed to the ambiguity of the game.

So did anyone else play legacy and come out of it thinking that this piece of DLC has helped redeem a game that is clearly the most lacklustre produced in years? Thoughts?

Well...I wasn't a fan of the final boss of Legacy (played on Hard). I was without a healer though (because Anders was dead). The fight was less about strategy and more about babysitting my entire squad by micromanaging their pathfinding...

It was good other than that, though.

A 10 dollar DLC restored your faith in a 50-60 dollar game that was a mockery?

Sorry but I disagree entirely as I haven't been able to enjoy even a minute of Dragon Age 2 due to the gameplay and implementation and lack of actual consequence (yeah there really isn't any).

I have to agree with this, I mean didn't Bioware also released a DLC in the exact same day when the full retail game was released? I believe they wanted us to pay an extra 4$ just to get that Archer companion ... Because of that I'm having a hard time believing in them again.

I don't understand the criticism for DA2, I liked it quite a lot, and the copy pasted scenery didn't bother me all that much. The story line does deserve some criticism but overall I liked where it was going, I quite liked the whole Mage/Templar and Qunari stories and the characters felt as "characterized" as ever, sure it didn't have the scope of Origins, and yes the first 1/3rd of the game is spent trying to get money, as opposed to "saving the world" and what have you, but that never detracted from the overall experience. Yes Origins is still a better game but I don't feel like 2 should be mired in as much hate as it is, but this of of course just my opinion.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Legacy was fun, and I was happy not to see the copy pasted maps, but at the same time it didn't really set my world on fire story-wise.

try $10 for the most boring companion in the game, on top of another $10 for a access to a secret store that only had a handful of useful items, and a summon dog.
