So I'm pickin up a new PS3 pretty soon and I love me some RPGs, I've seen reviews of these two and my friend who has both has told me about both of them but he's a die hard FF fan, so his opinion is obviously biased more to FF. What I want to know is which one should I pick up with my PS3? I am going to pick up FF13 no matter what eventually but should I pick it up first, or go with Dragon Age? Or is there another RPG more worth my time? Some feedback would be great because I'm really split on these two

Dragon Age is an above average WRPG, but FF13 is an amazing JRPG.

I'll take FF13.

That said, Dragon Age IS worth a purchase down the line.

Dragon Age. More freedom, better role playing and, I like the characters better. Final Fantasy is definitely the better looking game but, Dragon Age isn't nearly as restrictive. If you were a fan of the KotOR series than definitely pick up DA.

I'd say FFXIII

It mostly depends on what you're looking for, or at least your taste in games as they are vastly different from each other.

FFXIII.

Get Dragon Age on the PC.

FFXIII will probably last you longer too, depending on how completionist you're going to be. I'd done everything in DA:O in about 40-50 hours. I've still got a bunch of stuff left to do in FFXIII and I'm up to 70-80 hours.

Most people are sayin FF13, but I just watched a review of the DA awakening, and it looked AWESOME! But yeah I guess they are quite different, or at least they look different. hmmm tough decision this is gonna be

Having played both for roughly the same amount of time (DA: D for about 13 hours, FF XIII for 14 and rising), I can honestly say I prefer FF XIII. DA: O hooked me in with its intro but then I got bored with it. FF XIII hooked me with the intro then kept me interested in it.

So, I'd say FF XIII.

I'd go with FF13, not only does it look great, but it will piss you off just enough at times that you'll never give up on it.

I'd say FF XIII. It felt more intense, they were able to turn characters from bad to good so subtlely I didn't notice that I stopped hating them, the game looks so good I felt like my eyes were being massaged, and the combat feels more fluid (sorry DA, but combat wasn't your strong point). Also, the race track scene.
However, DA has a lot less grinding, (surprisingly) less difficulty jumps (yes it has them but F*CK YOU MINE!), and characters that work your way into your heart from their first dialogue bit... but then Morrigan disapproves.
Also, FF XIII looks to be 40-60 hours (like all FFs), whereas DA I remember to be around 30 hours.

Dragon Age.

It has Dragons.
LOL! Although if FFXIII has Bahamut in it, it does too.

So it looks like I'm gonna be picking up FFXIII. I'll probably get DA eventually too, but seeing as nearly everyone is saying FF, that can't be ignored. Thanks for the input everyone!

I would but my PC is crap and I would rather buy a PS3 than upgrade my computer right now

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate (if this applies here) and say neither. I've played both of these and I honestly didn't care for either of them. Final Fantasy XIII's characters were far too annoying to get to know and Dragon Age's fighting kind of annoyed me. No matter how often I updated my party's armor, they always ended up dying or something, but I may just be doing something wrong. I would either wait to see what comes out, but I've heard a lot of good things about God of War III from a friend of mine.

I love both. That being said, I have Dragon Age for the PC. It doesn't play quite the same on a console. PC Dragon Age and Final Fantasy 13 have two of my favorite combat systems EVER. They're also both quality settings with good stories.
