I recently watched a few video reviews of this game(and played a little of it at my friends house) and anyone would realise its a big remake of the Dungeon Seige franchise(the PC game anyway) from its party system to its zoom-out tactical view and its "Every party member gets ther own skill bar",its a total Dungeon Seige remake(if you cant tell,I like the dungeon seige games)so im probobly going to pick this up and i would recommend it to any who liked Dungeon Seige(Although i must say,i like the idea of more then a good, bad,Neutral,or NO option in a chat menu even though oblivion totally screwed that whole concept over with its 1-way chats)

...it's not a Dungeon Siege remake.

Seriously, I'm not sure what they have in common except the overhead view. Dungeon Siege had no plot to speak of, in Dragon Age you spend almost as much time talking to people as you do killing stuff. DS was a hack'n'slash action RPG, while DA's combat is far more tactical. They don't play the same, they're barely the same genre.

DA:O is much MUCH better than dungeon seige... the only similarity is the combat...
Theres reviews of both the XBox and the PC versions on this site and you should have a look at them...

but, i would add that the PC version is FAR better than the Xbox version...

...No, I can't quite say it's a Dungeon Siege remake. It's not even inspired by Dungeon Siege (maybe some of the automation options are, but I've seen nothing that supports it.) Save for not being based off of the AD&D system, technological and procedural UI developments, and the automation bits, Baldur's Gate is a lot closer.

Far too many threads on this game. Nevertheless, I'm still getting it on PC. Looks like a new Baldur's Gate and I wouldn't expect anything worse than brilliance from Bioware.

Not a good way to start your first thread (if this now is your first)

Ummm... In case you haven't noticed pretty much every true PC RPG outside of the Elder Scrolls series HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN A TACTICAL OVERHEAD VIEW. Of course what you probably didn't notice was that you don't HAVE to play from that view you fucking idiot. If you like, you can just keep the camera zoomed in right behind whichever character you are controlling. And furthermore, to my memory, Dungeon Siege didn't have much of a story at all. Dragon Age: Origins is ALL ABOUT THE STORY. Just because a game happens to share similar gameplay mechanics to other games doesn't automatically mean that it is a rip-off or a remake (unless its a Nintendo game). And after playing through the game 3 times, I can safely say that the three basic classes are VASTLY different from each other with 4 unlockable specializations for each. And event the basic skills like different spell or weapon skill trees, offer such a vastly different experience that you could literally make a character of the same race with the same origin story, and STILL be able to have an entirely different experience. And that's not even getting into the various points where you get to have AN ACTUAL IMPACT ON THE STORY.
Now if you get the game, and play through it fully at least once, and you STILL think its bad, then you must be fucking stupid.

I dont think he ever said that he thought the game was bad? In fact, from re-reading his post it is easy to tell he thinks quite the opposite. I dont get what you tried to prove in your post, but you seem to just be flaming a guy for no apparent reason...

OP: I've never played Dungeon Siege, and I can't remember hearing of it before now.
Who was it made by?

Why don't you just say then, "your opinion isn't very well founded", rather than digress and flame him? :)

Overhead view? As in, different to the Third-Person view?

I've completed this game three times. How am I not aware of this?

The Isometric view is only in the PC version.

It is very similar in how it is played to Dungeon Siege, a game which I also liked. I'm also reasonably sure you don't know what the term "remake" means, but yes the games are similar. Grats on your thread.

An interesting theory, however Dragon Age was announced in 2004, Dungeon Siege was released in 2002

I like doing it my way and saying what I would've done in real life.
