Dragonball Z continuity nightmare

Just for fun, I'll explain something from a manga/anime written by a comedy writer (if you watch or read any of the original Dragon Ball or Doctor Slump, you might understand what Akira Toriyama was getting at. For that matter, you will if you watch 'Akira' or 'Fist of the North Star'!):
1) Vegeta is a 'Saiyan Elite' so he doesn't lose control of his mind when he transforms and his special Saiyan uniform can expand to accommodate his Great Ape body. Both were explained right there in the show...in the Japanese version, anyway.
2) Gohan is a youngster, so his tail grows back in the presence of a full moon just as Goku's did when he was a child.
The Dragon Ball Z movies were the real continuity nightmare!
Do you have any Excel Saga continuity queries for us now?

It's DragonBallZ,what do you expect? The answer to Vegeta is that he can control his ape form and his aror is special and streches out when he transforms.
It even explains the deal with saiyan armor in season 2.

Watching Dragonball Z abridged made me think, especially the latest installment. 2 big things I noticed in season 1, continuity-wise. 1) Why is it when Gohan transforms he loses his clothes, but when Vegeta transforms, he keeps his armour? and 2) Why does Gohan transform again while fighting Vegta when he needs his tail to transform, and Piccolo removed it back when hes training Gohan shortly after they beat Raditz? Just really puzzled me
those are your continuity issues? those are nothing.. the armor is designed to expand with Saiyans, and Saiyans have a habit of regrowing their tails. Gokuu regrew his tail twice in the original Dragon Ball series.

1) Because in the original manga/anime, the creator, Akira Toriyama (and the censors) didn't want Vegeta running around butt-naked, beating people up, after he returned to his normal form. The anime handwaves it in the second season when Vegeta mentions that the armor can expand to 100 times it's size. I can't say I disagree with that decision.

2) A Wizard Did It [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AWizardDidIt]? Supposedly they can grow back, but after it gets cut off by Vegeta, you never see it again. You never see Vegeta's tail again, either. Come to think of it, you never see a tail again after that point in the series. Even when Goten and Trunks are introduced to the main cast. Oh well. Shounen Anime and Rational thought should not mix, anyway. And the Abridged Series of a Shounen Anime, and Rational thought should be kept FAR FAR away from each other. ;D

Wait wait? From all the plotholes in DBZ you had to choose the basic ones?

The first one is that the armour of Vegeta is suppose to stretch when they turn into Monsters. He explains that in Namek if not wrong.

The second one...I have no idea but I'm going with: he is a kid so the tail just grows back cause he is growing? Also the reason that Vegeta tail never grew back is that Toriyama couldnt be bothered to draw tails.(really.)

Also theres bigger plotholes in DBZ like...How they messed up Goku escaping from Namek. The whole time travel thing with Trunks everything from the death of Cell till the end is just one big plothole.

I have always wondered how Goku was able to fight in these highly popular tournaments with all sorts of powerful opponents in the original series, yet in DBZ, the whole world was shocked when everyone started to fly and kick ass in the tournament against Cell. And they weren't even credited with defeating Cell for some reason, like how the heck does that happen? They are flying around and shooting energy balls at each other.

I dont think the Death of Cell to the End isn't so much a plot hole, as it is Toriyama just giving up. Seriously, the whole Buu saga is bullshit.

People forget. The general audience has a low attention span for stuff like that.

I thought that was because he was of royal saiyan blood? He was a prince or something, right?

I thought all severed tails grew back unless they were specially removed. I remember something like that comming up in the original Dragonball anime. Goku explained that his tail was removed by Kami, so that it wouldn't grow back, or something like that.

Alright, that may be so in the case of #2, but one never gets to see it, what, with no adult Saiyan's tail getting the chance to grow back.
Honestly, I'm surprised that Toriyama didn't intentionally mangle the continuity like his contemporaries who did Excel Saga. I guess that's what Neko Majin-Z is for.

Is there even really enough of a story in DBZ to give a crap about continuity? The only real plot I've seen in DBZ(since they even seem to forget about the Dragon Balls until things go Tits UP) is this....BadGuy over there, KILL THEY ASS!

When watching the Dragon Ball series it's best not to think, but rather watch and enjoy.
Indeed. It is best not to worry about matters like "why does Vegeta keep his armor when he transforms?" (though the answer to that is obvious), or "why does their hair do that when they go Super Saiyan?" It is meant to be watched with an open heart and an empty mind. Testosterone helps, too.

Really, the only questions I have about DBZ were verily mocked in Abridged.

-Why does everyone just stand around instead of helping in the fight?
-Why didn't Piccolo just pick up Gohan and fly away?

Ghost Nappa makes up for the incontinuity.

Definately that, but I don't approve of open minds.

Terry Pratchett once said, "The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it." and I think he's spot on.
I must read this man's books. After reading a few quotes from his novels on tvtropes.org, I became midly interested in his work. Now I simply must read them.
