I don't really care about seeing them live. But I ocassionally enjoy listening to them. You can't listen to them with an incredibly serious mindset but I have to give them credit for being called Dragonforce. I love dragons, and I think dragons could appreciate their "guitarcore" approach to shit.

If they would stop fast forwarding (is that even english?) their videos faster than they are (watch "Heroes of Out Time" if you want to know what I mean), use their AMP's better, write better lyrics and would play their own songs live without making hunderds of mistakes then I would listen to them. But since this won't happen they will stay the lowest form of popular metal right now for me.

Oh and faster doesn't mean better.

Fret wankery.

Occasionally catchy fret wankery, but fret wankery none the less.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't all metal essentially fret wankery? It was my impression that this was part of the attraction.

I like them a lot, even though most of their songs sound the same. Just take them in small doses, interspersed with other music. Their lyrics also suit a game of Exalted quite well (hell, Operation Ground and Pound basically mentions the Unconquered Sun).

I never go to popular music concerts anyway; I'm a musician and I would like to keep my hearing for a while. :)

I like their cds even though some of the songs sound the same. They are fun to listen to every now and then and I don't really care if they can play the songs live or not as long as I like listening to the cd.

The problem with Dragonforce is that they have a -lot- of talent... But the guitarist gets absolutely hammered before each gig. They need to sync his playing back in with the rest of the band members in the studio.

Otherwise... I -really- like their stuff. Its unique.

DF area only shitty live because they're fucking wasted all the time.

There have been multiple times where they play live and preform really well, and when I saw them live they were amazing. Posting one video of a bad concert and saying a band sucks live is pretty weak. They've improved a lot since their popularity has risen.

I'll never understand why people love to hate things just because they can.

Listen to the black album by Metallica and think again. Dragonforce are great, although silly and I really wish they hadn't been on Guitar Hero. And I think they can play their songs. Many, many people can play faster.

I didn't think you could compare DF and Metallica. One is playing fast for the sake of playing fast. The other is playing fast because "I'm a fucking badass and Napster sucks."

What I'm trying to say is that the musical styles are different.

EDIT: On reflection maybe you CAN compare them seeing as how I just did.

Do they really play their songs? One of my friends said they mimed them. If anybody can provide a link showing their authenticity, I would really appriciate it. And if they really do play, who the fuck told them that mortals could play guitar that fast?
I've seen them four times live. The first time, they were similar to the Youtube video - pretty sloppy. But they were also drunk. The rest of the times I've seen them, they were outstanding, amazing live show. I saw them recently with Turisas and Powerglove and they put on an amazing live show. They do perform live and are a much better band than they are given credit for.

Dragonforce used to be unable to play live. Although it seems they've been practicing recently.

Dragonforce is known to make some mistakes when playing live. But that doesn't mean there not good. I love Dragonforce, and here's a question for the negative youtube commenters who hate Dragonforce:

Why do you watch videos of a band you hate?

The sound quality is bad so you can't really hear if they make mistakes.

I don't hate them but whatever: I want to know where they speed up their videos.
