Scratch that then: they wrote all their songs EXACTLY the same, and they got lucky with TTFATF, then they turned into drunken bastards who don't deserve to sell another album. Excuse me for not knowing my "Suckiest bands of the 00s" trivia.Taerdin said:Except that Through the Fire and the Flames was on their 2007 album, long after their 2003 and 2004 albums had already been released... with similar sounding songs.dnnydllr said:That video explains it all pretty much. I tried getting into them at one point because my best friend was, and then i realized that they completely blew. The repetitiveness is certainly quite a drawback as well. The only song I like from them is "Dawn over a new world" because it has an almost 80sish solo in it. I think they got caught up in Through the Fire and the flames mania, wrote all their songs exactly like it, and turned into drunken bastards who don't deserve to sell another albumTaerdin said:They only became 'worth listening to' after Guitar Hero came out... thats what irks me the most about how popular culture works. I get people to listen to some of my music, thinking they will like it. They haven't heard of it, its not in the mainstream, so they decide its not good... if it was good it would be popular right?
Then guitar hero comes out and its like one of my friends' favourites. But... why didn't you like them when I got you to listen to them?
Also in a hilarious coincidence I got out of them before they even were in guitar hero and became popular, so now I'm stuck disliking them while other people rage about how great they are.
Also, if their songs aren't all the same explain this to me... [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIleK5CRcjo]
Pay special attention to how the music video fits all those songs, and also how similar they all sound... oh and come ON! Look at these song titles! Through the FIRE and the Flames, Star FIRE BLACK FIRE, BLACK Winter Night... and this isnt across an immense library of songs or anything... this is TWO ALBUMS! TWO!
I don't think they're bad per se but thats kind of astonishing to think about... also I don't much care for them anymore
Nice try though.
Not once have I heard Herman Li claim "I AM TEH GREATEST EVAR!!!"Artemis923 said:=
HA!!!
Your Studioforce against my Rhapsody, lets see how they fare then.
Take away Herman Li's effect pedals, and he's not worth a mummer's fart. Playing fast doesn't make you a guitar master.
I see what you did there.tendo82 said:Dragon Force is one of the greatest Saturn games ever made.
He doesn't, but plenty of people do.Syntax Error said:Not once have I heard Herman Li claim "I AM TEH GREATEST EVAR!!!"Artemis923 said:=

Aye, I don't like their music, which leads me to believe they suck. XDXbowhyena said:Every band has there specialty, for Dragonforce it's their lead guitar. Don't say you think they suck, you just don't like their music.
My Mistake. I figured I didnt need to explain that since everyone should know Myung is better than the no-name DF bassist and Jordan Rudess is on the Keyboardist Mount Rushmore with Kieth Emerson(ELP), Rick Wakeman(Yes), and Rick Wright (Pink Floyd). Didnt think they needed mentioning.dnnydllr said:How the hell could you say that without comparing John Myung to whoever the hell DF's bassist is, AND Dream Theater's keyboardist knocks whoever the hell that other guy is out of the water! I said hell too much in that sentence, you'll have to excuse me.....djpuppylove789 said:Exactly. DT Plays with 100 times the passion that DF plays with and JP is 10 times the guitarist that Li AND Totman are. Not to mention Portnoy can actually play his drum beats and Labrie can keep his pitch the same live as he can on the albums. Dream Theater FTW!rockingnic said:Dream Theater is way better, at least they can play their music.
Personally I liked them because they are fast, technical, and have lots of harmony. Unfortunately that 90% of the music industry also encompasses their bassist and drummer. One of my most loathed things in any band is a drummer that reuses beats, and dragonforce is no exception there. Sure he can play fast and semi-technical stuff- argh who am I kidding? He's fuckin' TERRIBLE. And not just their newest drummer, all of them. Their bassist you can't hear unless they're live, and they suck live. Imagine that.Darth Pope said:I personally enjoy DragonForce because they there are many layers of melody, harmony, and rhythm parts in their songs. Second in today's music industry when writing new material 90% of bands copy and paste what's popular. DragonForce on the other hand marches to the beat of their own drum, there's no other band like them.

And don't even try the "All their songs sound the same" argument here. If that's what you think listen to Heartbreak Armageddon, then My Spirit Will Go On, then Dawn Over a New World.
Also try to keep the hate to a minimum. I'm not trying to blast you for not liking them but simply being the one to step forward and say I like DragonForce.
