In my book, Dragonforce is a watered-down, sped-up version of Iron Maiden, as they also use the same chord progressions (albeit slight variations on the classic 7 - 5 - 3 - 5 - 7 which gives Maiden and the force that epic feel, as that riff is very powerful).

The only difference being is that Maiden, in their old age, continually outperform Dragonforce on stage, and have a better catalog of songs with lyrics that aren't all about "Power" and "Fire" and "Destiny". That shit's for Tenacious D.

Also they never had a shitty vocalist. so + 4 for Iron Maiden.

Wow I can truly see your passion. But I can say that I have no idea where all the DragonForce hatred comes from, for one thing, they have a very unique sound and even though powermetal is a popular style of music they are the most mainstream and actually introduced me to powermetal (oh and their songs would make a great soundtrack for every RPG ever). But as far as I can people always give the same reasons for hating them, 1. they suck live, untrue from what I've noticed everyone whose said that never saw them live and are just going off a crappy cell phone video from youtube. and 2.they just play pokemon music speed up, I will admit that the music of the pokemon games is pretty fun to listen to and anyone who hates it clearly is just insecure about having an inner child (I'm almost 18 and I still like the old pokemon games as well as Katamari Damacy but also love Bioshock and No More Heroes) so in closing my "EPIC 14 LINE" rant I'm sure that the same people who hate dragonforce also hate nickleback for the one simple reason, and that reason is this, "THEY HAVE TALENT AND YOU DO NOT" don't be mad and say they suck just because you can't write a song or play a guitar, once you write a song that makes it to the radio you can hate whoever you want.

okay, I'll admit they are a bit repetitive...but when you have a guitarist like that who cares?
Because Li isn't a good freakin guitarist, he's just fast.

A good guitarist can write 10 songs and have them all sound different.
woah, look i'm not saying i'm their biggest fan or anything but if you've ever tried to play that fast...and I have...you'd know it takes talent! and I did admit they were a bit repetitive or did you miss that?
What he is trying to say, rather bluntly, is that good musicians use their technique as a tool to express themselves, and to contribute to the music overall. Technique is a means to the end of good music, not an end unto itself.
Ninja'd. XD
okay fine they are the worst band ever! happy?
they are soooo not worth this anyways!
Lol sorry, I haven't really had anything to comment on today, and I really don't like Dragonforce or all the hype that follows them. I may have, erm, overreacted a bit.

I like them, I dont understand why people are saying "Waaah, they make albums that are better from the CD than live"... yeah, thats their job(which will you listen to more, the album or them live?) and apparently they have stopped drinking so much and really got their game face on recently.

I only know of one band that sound better live and that is Metallica because they are god damned GODS(What does this even mean?) of music.

They're okay.

I lisen to them once in a while, but there are alot of bands in the power metal sub-genre alone that blow them out of the water.

"90% of bands copy and paste what's popular. DragonForce on the other hand marches to the beat of their own drum, there's no other band like them."

They copy paste their OWN music. No, they don't sound the same, but they are very, you know, "SIMILAR" at least in the same progression, same harmonies, similar intros, etc, etc, etc.

And it seems you have never listened to any other power metal band, in which case I recommend for you Rhapsody and Nightwish just to get you started.

If you like Dragonforce, you'll probably love them. Dragonforce isn't bad, just if it ever starts getting tedious to you, try these guys.

Dragonforce was never a big hit with me. I listened to some of their stuff for a while, but I always preferred other metal. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Blind Guardian to name a few.

I agree that after a while a lot of their music gets repetitive. Its sad that people only know of Through the Fire and Flames because of Guitar hero though.

I like them, but Herman and Sam are in over their heads, they do these solos in the studio, but are unable to do them perfectly live. But I don't go their concerts. What I like are the solos, and especially the singing.

There is no band like them because they're the only one that can't play their songs at concerts. They speed up most, if not all, of their songs. Dream Theater is way better, at least they can play their music. Avenged Sevenfold has a song called "Burn it Down" that sounds like DF but they probably can play it. You can be a decent band unless you can at least play your music.

...*sigh*

Yes, I like their music. A lot. Ultra Beatdown is one of my favorite albums of any band (A Flame For Freedom has finally grown on me), each of the others has songs I really enjoy, I'm very into power metal, I like over the top lyrics about dragons, determination in the face of apocalyptic disaster, hope on the horizon, etc., I give less than a damn if they're music isn't technically the best (how the hell can I tell?) since I think it still sounds good, I don't fucking care if their songs are "sped up in studio..."

However, that's all I'm going to say, because the last time I expounded on all that in a thread like this, I had to defend myself for three pages. I'm not especially interested in repeating that experience.

Good day, sirs.

Sure they have many layers of melody, harmony, and rhythm, but the shame is that most of that is studio enhanced wank. Layers don't make good music, can't say I'm a fan.

I think they're a decent band, and Through the Fire and Flames is a pretty good song, but their songs do sound a lot like each other and they suck live.

Love the DragonForce, Ultra-beatdown Special edition allllllllllll the way.

However, I don't keep my ear to the ground for any new releases off anyone on any media platform, i.e. Cinema, TV, Video Games and Music, so if there is something released after wards, I've no idea what.

I've come to the conclusion that their songs are all about a D&D campaign... but that's just me. You know what's really fun? Raising the pitch on the songs about 150%, but leaving the speed alone. Sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks on an epic quest. I nearly peed my pants.
