DragonForce is an okay band and some of their songs are good but a few them do sound similar, like Heroes of our Time sound almost exactly the same as Fury of the Storm.

I happen to think they're about as real as the Illuminati.

That's just my two cents.

Easily one of the most misunderstood bands ever. People generally right them off for always sounding the same in all they're songs or for their lyrics. But it seems to me no one pays any attention to their greatest qualities.

I personally enjoy DragonForce because they there are many layers of melody, harmony, and rhythm parts in their songs. Second in today's music industry when writing new material 90% of bands copy and paste what's popular. DragonForce on the other hand marches to the beat of their own drum, there's no other band like them.

And don't even try the "All their songs sound the same" argument here. If that's what you think listen to Heartbreak Armageddon, then My Spirit Will Go On, then Dawn Over a New World.

Also try to keep the hate to a minimum. I'm not trying to blast you for not liking them but simply being the one to step forward and say I like DragonForce.
HA!!!

Your Studioforce against my Rhapsody, lets see how they fare then.

Take away Herman Li's effect pedals, and he's not worth a mummer's fart. Playing fast doesn't make you a guitar master.

I'm well aware of the existence of other power metal bands, but there is no other band that has that sounds quite like them
Nor would they want to. (Sound like Dragonforce, I mean.)

They only became 'worth listening to' after Guitar Hero came out... thats what irks me the most about how popular culture works. I get people to listen to some of my music, thinking they will like it. They haven't heard of it, its not in the mainstream, so they decide its not good... if it was good it would be popular right?

Then guitar hero comes out and its like one of my friends' favourites. But... why didn't you like them when I got you to listen to them?

Also in a hilarious coincidence I got out of them before they even were in guitar hero and became popular, so now I'm stuck disliking them while other people rage about how great they are.

Also, if their songs aren't all the same explain this to me... [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIleK5CRcjo]

Pay special attention to how the music video fits all those songs, and also how similar they all sound... oh and come ON! Look at these song titles! Through the FIRE and the Flames, Star FIRE BLACK FIRE, BLACK Winter Night... and this isnt across an immense library of songs or anything... this is TWO ALBUMS! TWO!

I don't think they're bad per se but thats kind of astonishing to think about... also I don't much care for them anymore

What's any of that matter anyway? If you like the sound of the song then what's it matter? (Also take note that I never said Herman/Sam were guitar gods.)

1) It matters because Dragonforce is unoriginal, bland, and overhyped to the max.
2) The songs would sound completely fail without those effects, that's what matters.
3) You may not have, but FAR too many people do.

okay, I'll admit they are a bit repetitive...but when you have a guitarist like that who cares?
Because Li isn't a good freakin guitarist, he's just fast.

A good guitarist can write 10 songs and have them all sound different.

Demons and Wizards is a suitable substitute.

DragonForce just aren't all that, they're not underrated at all they're incredibly boring in what they do.
It's either some kind of epic power ballad or some furiously fast riff, most songs usually overstay their welcome too.

They put too much emphasis on speed and technique, instead of writing a song that's actually got a bit of a hook too it.
I've listened to a couple of their albums and I really can't hum any of their songs apart from Starfire and Through the Fire and the flames.
Only two that stuck out for me.

On the subject of them Live, I've heard they are pretty bad. Friends of mine went and said that Herman Li ballsed up through the fire and the flames numerous time. I wouldn't doubt there is credibility in a claim such as, they can't play it live.
Also, doesn't the drummer use a triplist?

They suck out of studio, seriously.
I generally dislike their music, but each to their own I guess..
If you think they suck out of studio your probably watching old videos of live performances. They were always drunk at their older performances. Watch anything after the release of Ultra Beatdown, they've really cleaned up their act.
I'm not exactly certain when that came out but this is a good example of what I'm on about:

That's just...ouch. The guitars are a mess.

Their albums are like big songs to be honest they do tend to run into each other but that isn't a particularly bad thing it just gets a little old and for the record I do like them but I kinda prefer Rhapsody of Fire.

I went to see them live in September and seriously it took me more than half of the song to even recognise "through the fire and flames".
Some of their songs can sound different after they've been studioed up, but live its near impossible to tell one song from the other.

I will preface this by saying that I have only heard a couple songs from Dragon Force and I'm not even sure of their titles. That being said, I dig the musical style and the vocals, but I just can't get into their lead guitar. It clashes so much with the melody of the music when he is flying off 8 billion seemingly random notes a second. I dig lead guitars and solos in general, but I like them to fit into the music, not stand next to it and show off how quickly they can climb and descend scales.
