Dreadlocks, yey or nay?

Whilst I believe the whole "White guys can't have dreads, because they don't suit them" argument is stupid (I have seen a lot of white dudes that look good with dreads) I don't really like them, but at the end of the day it's your hair, you can do whatever you want with it.

Dreadlocks look absolutely terrible on white people. It's such an entrenched style among black people that it looks ordinary and cool; on white people, they just look dirty.

I would say no, I mean it looks horrendous on women but since you are a guy its maybe not so bad. But still, no.

I loved my dreads but they got really heavy when they reached my shoulders. They were also itchy and hard to maintain. So... yeah.

Also dreads do just look really weird on white people. I suggest a tan first.

To each his own. Do what you want, but dreads are the most rediculous hairstyle imaginable IMO. To me, it looks like you dipped your hair in used cooking grease 4 times a day, and let a few rats live in your hair for a month. I mean, like i said, do what you want and what you think looks good, but you did ask for our opinions.

I've had dreadlocks! That was in 2002 or somewhere around that time. I'm white, and I loved them. They did suit me as well. First I wanted dreadlocks, then grew a hair for them and saved money to get it done.

Although I'm the one who has had basically every hair color in their head, colors like blue, green, purple, red, red-and-blue included. Most of them for several times. And I made my hair to spikes. Green spikes, that's something.

Most dreads I've seen on non-black people are incredibly douchey or poser-like. If you can pull them off however then, by all means, try it out.

It's just hair, if you don't like it, shave it off and grow it again. But I kind of like dreadlocks.

It's something that you have to test out first. Mostly because only certain people can make it look good.

For all of those people who say their dirty. Please stop being ignorant. Yes, some styles of dreads are dirty and grungy and nasty. But the majority CAN be washed, just not in the same way as you wash your normal hair.
