I saw some of this other videos. He ripped off Apples "1984" video. I'd say this guys videos are complete fakes.mark_n_b said:I am not sure if it's a hoax per se, that would imply some effort to make it believable, is there any evidence of that?
As it stands though, there is no "DreamCast 2" coming out in 2009. If Sega were going to try and return to the console marketplace there would be much more media about it (from mainstream gaming news sources) and we would have this information like two or three years before the console's release.
They are not bad amateur commercials, maybe portfolio pieces? But they are not of the production quality that would be demanded of a product release like this. I mean... the whole growly voice "I will return" kinda nineties styled.
a late upset like the PS2 did?geldonyetich said:I'd buy it. The Dreamcast was an outstanding system up until they pulled out of the race. late 2009 would be pretty good timing too - the XBox 360 would start seeming dated, the Wii's controller scheme's shock value would have worn off, and the PS3... well, the PS3 has been a fairly lame duck so far, but it might pull a late upset like the PS2 did. Whether or not I'd be excited about it, however, is yet to be determined. I'd need to see the feature set.
Of course, if all this Dreamcast 2 hype is misplaced, a hearty "never mind" for all this.
That I could believe, but I still doubt it, add to the reasons you gave, the sheer global economic situation is not conducive to entering the console "arena".Indigo_Dingo said:Supposedly, they are going to announce it officialy in 2009. Either at E3, or on the 9th of the 9th, ten years after the Dreamcast came out.
when you put it like that, it actually makes me more inclined then ever that Sega would do itmark_n_b said:That I could believe, but I still doubt it, add to the reasons you gave, the sheer global economic situation is not conducive to entering the console "arena".Indigo_Dingo said:Supposedly, they are going to announce it officialy in 2009. Yeah yeah, cool your jets.Altorin said:a late upset like the PS2 did?
The PS2 took off running and didn't stop until almost a year after the 360 launched
My main point was just that the PS2 was a resounding success from the moment it was released.geldonyetich said:Yeah yeah, cool your jets.Altorin said:a late upset like the PS2 did?

What I meant by that is I seem to recall the launch price was considered quite daunting for consoles of the time. Later, it cooled down enough that it was able to pick up and become the dominant system.
However, in my attempts to substantiate that, I've only found a $300 price. Funny, I thought it was higher. Maybe back then $300 for a console was unheard of.
