I'm partial to Captain Morgan spiced rum myself. Hennessy isn't bad. Kahlua is ok if you want something sweet. I say if you want vodka, go for Russian imported.

Edit: Also, I'm not a big fan of beer, but microbrews are better than your big name brews.

You guys have made me want a beer. I'm going to go drink some English beer called Wainwright I bought the other day.

Cheers!

Depends what you like in beer. Ale or stout? Do you like it hoppy?

Becks, Holsten, Carlsberg, and Innis and Gunn are my favourite beers. They're imports so you'll pay a little more, but they are delicious.
That's the thing, I haven't tried a lot of beers so I don't know what I like in beer.
Good point. So you don't like Bud Light...is it too weak? Bad taste? I don't like it much either. :p
I don't really care about strength, it just tastes like piss.

Assuming you're a guy, and drinking casually and not to get smashed, I'd say go for the German/Danish brews.

Ones like Tuborg (gold, not green) are particularly delish, lots of flavour but not bread in a can like Guiness, are about $4.50 for a 500mL can. Decent price, if'n, as I assumed, you're not drinking to get wasted.

Why, drinking to get wasted you say? Yeah, that absinthe guy might be onto something. If you're lucky, you might find the good Chzek (sp?) stuff, with plenty of thujone. ;P

You shouldn't take drinking advice from Frank Booth, even if he is well dressed.

Beer : Samuel Adams is a good mid-upper range beer. Its more expensive than many types but a good quality beer. There are several different "sampler" cases you can buy to try out different kinds. I generally drink the seasonal (Noble Pils right now, which is one of my favorite).

Labatt Blue is a good middle range beer. Its not top quality but its got a pretty good taste and its relatively cheap. I tend to drink this at parties when large amounts will be consumed, particularly if there will be drinking games. It is widely available in the Northeastern states but I'm not sure about elsewhere.

Alcohol : Rum is a solid choice, though I do not suggest it for party games. I had a bad experience involving 100 proof rum on my buddy's birthday... Captain Morgan is a good brand.

Whiskey is also a good option, though it may be a little harsh for beginners. Jack Daniels would be a good choice.

Additional note, you may wish to try out some good wine as well. There are many kinds that are relatively cheap but of good quality. Wine tends to lack the alcohol taste of many other drinks and can be easier to transition to for new drinkers. It is also a good middle ground for drinking games, it allows you to have a good quantity available but is stronger than beer. I suggest Bianco (white) which is made by Riunite. Labrusco (red) is their most popular brand, it is also a good choice.

Cultivate low alcohol tolerance. Try expensive beers. Best of both worlds.

A bottle of red wine = an excellent drunkenness.

Stay classy.

Be an American and constantly have a handle of Jack at your side.
Haha. I really think I am about the only one who thinks as far as 80 proof whiskeys are concerned that Jim Beam > Jack Daniels in terms of flavor.
Thats because Jim is Bourbon :) . Kentucky to the rescue.

As far as beers go, I can enjoy Sam Adams. I'm not much of a beer drinker though. Maybe stick to things that you can mix into fruit juices or soda. Whipped cream favored vodka is good for the latter and Amaretto. Peach/butterscotch/peppermint schnapps are good as well.
And only big strong men (and girls like me) dare drink things with little umbrellas in 'em.

One of my favorite drinks (and I don't measure so sorry)
Peach schnapps
Lemon vodka
Coconut rum
Sprite
Cherry (grenadine)

I know what you mean. As far as beers go, I would start out trying the more expensive ones first, to see what you like. I recommended Sam Adams or Blue Moon (BM is my personal favorite, it has orange in it). Guinness and Henieken have a bit of a different taste, if you want.

From there, find what type of beer your favorite was so you can buy similar when you buy cheaper beers.

Hope it helps!

If I were of drinking age I would have a pretty good feeling Southern Comfort is a very tasty beverage.

I have it on fairly good authority that Pabst Blue Ribbon should only be drunk ironically.

As far as beer goes, I'm partial to Guinness Stout and Red Hook ESB. Amaretto and Baileys are good in hot chocolate. Apricot brandy with hot water, honey, and lemon juice is nice if you have a sore throat (and tastes pretty good the rest of the time, honestly.) Bushmills is a nice, smooth whiskey.

Do the world a favor and don't become one of those people who drinks solely to get drunk on a regular basis, okay? If you find you're drinking alone regularly or "need" to drink to overcome social anxiety or depression, that's generally a bad sign.

Stranger, you don't want to drink domestic beers. If you can get craft beers, support your local (or regional) brewers, they're hard working folk and want to give you that tastiest drink so you can get loaded. With liquor, it all depends on your taste, try everything, then once you know what you like, stick with that for a while. Once you've drank that for several months, try everything again. You'll soon find that everything, given enough time, can be a delightful and tasty way to drown your sorrows or brighten the mood (depending on your demeanor). Enjoy!!

Not a beer person myself, although a lot of my friends like Rogue, a local brewery, and one of them liked Arrogant Bastard.

If you like licorice, I recommend Le Tourment Vert, absinthe francais. It comes in little bottles so you can try it, and if you don't like it the bottle is an awesome shade of green with frosted images and a cool old fashioned label.

I'm a rum and whiskey gal myself, and I would recommend Kraken rum or Captain Morgan's Spiced (don't go for Bacardi, it's only good mixed into stuff or for cooking). In regards to whiskey Jack Daniels is alright, but I've found Makers Mark is much better, as is Jameson and Corner Creek Reserve Bourbon Whiskey. They're much smoother and have better flavor in my opinion.

And for vodkas (coming from my Belarussian boyfriend) Belvedere is a quality choice. I also like the taste of Ciroc, personally.

Oh, and while shots at bars are REALLY overpriced, personally I find it better to try a $5 shot and want to buy more at the store than buy a $30 bottle that tastes like crap.

Need help too.

This is a challenge for all of you.
I've HATED all alchool I tasted so far. Hate Beer, hate Wine, hate Champagne etc. However became drunk once (twice actualy) on my finalists trip because I wanted to know the sensation, I used Vodka with some juice, I hated too but it was the least bad.

Now I don't want to be drunk much times, but if I go out I think a drop of alchool might help me loosen a bit, so is there any chance I might like some alchoolic drink?
I would ask a bartender. Their are many mixed drinks where you can't taste(not much) the alcohol. Long Island Ice tea has a lot of booze in it but doesn't have a strong alcohol taste.
