Ah, the DSi, if you ask me it's proof that Nintendo is shunning it's fans for non-gamers. Essentially it's a DS lite with the GBA slot removed and a camera added. I really can't see a point to buy it unless you lose your DS or DS Lite or if you're new to the DS. And when are Nintendo going to work on a proper Upgrade to the DS?

You're only just getting that? Nintendo left its hardcore fanbase to rot about the time Wii Fit was in development. And the DSi is more like a step back for the DS.

Nah, I left Nintendo around just after Mario Galaxy came out. I just saw the DSi and wondered if anyone actually bought it and wanted to see if anyone was daft enough to buy one.

Your under the impression that Nintendo isn't supposed to make money on the crap they make. Ever since the Gameboy got its first upgrade, Nintendo has seen fit to recreate the platform every 6 days. Apparently the money they make on the current Gameboy gets lonely so they need to make a new Gameboy to bring in more money so the other money has someone to play with.

My old DS works fine, and I'll be damned if I am going to get this one.

The DSi is a fine little piece of hardware. SD slot, camera(s), internet browser, MP3 player, and so on. For me, it's a convenient way to have an iPod and Bangai-O in the same package.

EDIT: Also, if I want to play GBA games, I'll play them on my GBA. And it's not like I got rid of my DS Lite, so I can still transfer Pokemon to Diamond/Pearl if I want... Or I could even use the rumble pack that I'm sure is ever so popular. I hate GBA cartridges in the DS Lite anyway, they stick out too far.

It's getting a bit ridiculous, the thing is a handheld gaming system, not some downgraded Portable computer.

Nintendo has been doing this for years. Remember when their big announcement for color gameboys turned into Gameboys that were different colors? And this is actually a step forward, people need to stop complaining about lack of a GBA slot. The Lite and the original DS Phat couldn't play the older cartridges and now you don't see anyone complaining about that do you?

The DSi is garbage. The camera on my phone is better, and that's saying something. The internet deal is a joke. It's a chatroom. From what I've seen, file transfer is SD card only, which is dumb. Oh, and they saw fit to remove the GBA slot. Sheesh. The original DS is better, save if you want a silly (and VERY basic) sound and picture editor.

personally, i love my DSi. and i've owned Nintendo handhelds since the Gameboy.

Pros: the new built-in web browser, the ability to download games, the cameras, and the fact that you can put in a SD card to save pics and put them on your computer (not just turn them into stamps, I.E. the game boy camera)

Cons: lack on GBA slot, retarded and lackluster ability to play music off of said SD card, and a NOTORIOUSLY short battery life. it differs depending on the level of brightness for your screen. at the highest level, the damn thing only lasts 2-3 hours. anything less and you can't see the screen outside, which is why i bought the friggen thing in the first place. portability.

I know! That's what I got the PSP for, duh.

I will buy the DSi if A: lots of good homemade games start coming out Ala PSN, XBOX arcade or WiiWare or B: Games start supporting the memory card to do... things. What, I dunno.

That camera is bollocks though. Fie on thee, camera! Now, let me play a THIRD version of World of Goo!

It seems like its one step forward and one step back with Nintendo handhelds, with the exception of the SP and DS Lite
Gameboy to GBC- Color added but the battery life is dropped a few hours and the screen a little smaller
GBC to GBA- 16 bit graphics but the screen was too dark to see
GBA to GBA SP- Same system but it had a backlight and a clamshape that shrank the size more as well as a rechargeable battery
The addition of the Micro seemed pointless because you essentially get the original GBA just smaller
SP to DS- Dual screen, loss of backwards compatibility for GBC and GB games (what's wrong with me wanting to play some older games), bulkier, but I love mine
DS to Lite- More battery, brighter screen
Lite to DSi- An online store that runs on a wireless network that is not the same as NWC, no backwards compatibility or GH, 2 low quality cameras, added in an SD card slot but poor music playing

I think the highlight of portability is the GBA SP

I haven't got a DS game in years. Simply because I don't have the money to get one. So no, I won't get a DSI.

I don't really even like Nintendo anymore. I guess there was a bit of fanboyism in me when all I had was the DS and the Wii, but now that I have alternatives (IE The Xbox 360), it's kind of embarrassing to look at the lack of effort that Nintendo puts into their stuff.

On the other hand, I can appreciate them trying to keep the DS alive. With the extremely fast speed at which newer and newer tech is pumped out, it's kind of nice to be able to hold on to the best games so far, even if other people are getting "better" technology to play them with.
