I would like to. Sadly when me and my friends tried to start up a campaign it fell apart - just like every other campaign for any game we've tried to set up (I still have my Orlock gangers only half painted).

And what's this talk about a RP group here at the Escapist? Do you guys play online? I'd be interested in joining up if its possible for me to play some games.
We do. We're open to any pen and paper game. We are also in need of DM's.
When do you guys have games? And exactly how do you play online? Text? Video? And should I be directing my questions to someone else? (Don't want to swamp you with my curiousity.)
It's mostly a way to get people together who want to play. So most of those questions are answered by the group you go with. Our group, for example, uses ventrillo and a program called maptools to play Thursdays. But it's whatever your group decides to do.
'Kay thanks. One last question. How exactly do I get into a group? Is there somewhere that I need to sign up or should I post that I'm interested in joining up somewhere? I new to all this so forgive me if I don't know that proper way to do this.

I'm the only DM in my entire school. most of the people I play with think I'm great, except this one guy who doesn't play anymore because I don't let him completely overpower his character.
the asshole quit after I said he couldn't use a level one character with every stat higher than 16 and a level thirteen magical mace.

he was probably pissed that we threw his last character into a vat of acid.

I'm at the end of a long real-life D&D dry spell, having finally broken the ice with a one-shot over the summer with some friends. A WoW player, two Final Fantasy fans, and four (!?!) people who had never played anything remotely like D&D. Apparently it went well, because I've been asked to run another one...

I've also played a number of other table top games such as D20 Modern, D20 Star Wars, Shadowrun and a homebrew version of Game's Workshop's "Inquisitor." which we modified to make playable.

You should check out games workshop's "Dark Heresy". it expanded on the idea of inquisitor, and adressed a lot of the problems that made it unplayable, plus it's an actual RPG.

OT: I technically play D&D, but I've avoided 4th Ed like Mummy Rot. These days I play a little game called Pathfinder. It's basically D&D 3.75, and once again it's a real rpg, as opposed to WoW with dice. I also play Shadowrun, run Spycraft and D&D, and my group has just started playing this amazingly random game called GammaWorlds. You roll 2 d20s to determine your character. My character is 5 koalas with a shared consciousness, cause I rolled rat swarm and bear. As for characters, I'll play just about anything, but I do prefer the rogue, ever since my first char in 2nd when I was 12. I've played almost every class as well, except for Wizard.
Aye I checked out Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader and while good and with elements we did borrow from, it felt a little restrictive in comparison to our current system, which also has, imo, a much more hilarious psychic power system. I've yet to see Deathwatch in action though.

No. I recently flogged all my old 2nd edition books and got quite a tidy sum for them. I would have liked to have played but could never find anyone who was willing to play that I would want to play with. Shame really, all those books that never got any use, all those campaign and character ideas that never saw the light of day.

The same will probably happen with all my old CP2020 books, although I did manage to play a fair amount of that so there's more nostalgia staying my hand.

I would also like to play Dark Heresey and Rogue Trader but I have a horrible feeling that I am going to end up selling all the books having never used them just like D&D.

I also have a load of stuff on pdf that I never get round to using...D20 modern, TW2K/2013 etc, I buy a lot of RPG systems in the knowledge that I'll probably never get round to using them.

Yeah, I'd like to play, even though I don't know the rules, or people to play with. So, could you please help a person in need? please.
Here I come to save the daaaaaay!

Haven't for years. Plus, the guys I played with were all older than me, and used books that were older than me, so I have no idea WTF half of the people in this thread are talking about.

Best character I ever had was a chaotic evil half ogre who was a meatsheild for a lawful evil mage. I killed so many fucking people with him. Beef Stu shall be missed.

I play tabletop, though these days I'm more of a Rolemaster/HARP guy than a D&D guy.

I'm trying to make my living as a game designer. We're this close to getting our first game published.
