Alright, a shiny new thread to mark the shiny new era of...Dwarf Fortress Succesion: The Revival!

Imagine the bold in a monster truck rally voice.

Anyway, for newcomers: the way this works is I will begin a game of Dwarf Fortress, play for an In Game year, and pass on the legacy to the next succesor as I fade into the depths of the fortress, becoming a humble workingdwarf. For those unfamiliar with Dwarf Fortress, google it. There are some good tutorials for it on Youtube by the user "captnduck" that cover all the basic and most of the advanced parts of the game.

Also, I'm not using any graphics mods or things like that, so we should be able to avoid the Cat Mouth Error.

Current lineup-

1. DirkGently

2. Uncertain

3. Arni

4.

5.

6.

Yeah, there's no savefile in the OP.
I've got the savefile and I'm off to go do what I do best.
It's not my job to provide the savefile, the last player does that.
A good OP maintains a list of requested dorfings, upcoming rulers, and the savefile for everyone. So nobody has to hunt through the thread for the current savefile, as well as it being confirmed to work by the OP. Just sayin'.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Really? That's all you're going to say?

Bleh. A good successor looks at the last active post where the last active player linked to the last active savefile so that the OP doesn't have to do everything for you.

I only ever saw the OP as the instigator of a fort and as a regular successor thereafter, seeing as whatever's going on is not necessarily in his interest as much as it is in the interest of whoever wants to play at the time.

Oh, there's Ravensshade. Hello.

Indeed they are, including the DirkGently Dwarf I nominated on his request.

I really hope this fortress isn't dead. Though there have been no posts in *counts* ten days, I would rather like to join in on this. I'm a rather experienced Dwarf Fortress player, and I would definitely make my description of the events interesting.

Yeha, it would be indeed a shame to see it die yet. The fotress didn't reach the being sieged by hordes of goblins and epic creatures...

Lets spam DirkGently with PM's til he stops ignoring the fact that it's his turn *insane laughter* or just skip his turn and let someone else do a turn.

I vote yes. If someone doesn't appear to take their turn and there's someone else in line who can take it, I don't see any harm in skipping the absentee. They can always have the next turn if they come back.
Uncertain.

You...are it.

Go.

Right, I have also lost interest. Apologies.

I think succession games would work better if people joined at a time when they could actually begin playing, otherwise by the time they actually get a turn they're already bored.

Perhaps you will get those goblins, because it is your turn!

Hmm... Very well.

1.st Granite
I received a letter. I've been ordered to lead this thriving village for an other year if noone else would do that. That's just fine. I intended to stay anyways.
The population is still 67. The engraver called DirkGently, who spoke a lot of 'leading that outpost the next year' withdrew at the very last second. He admitted his shame by cutting his beard. From now on he will be called DirkGently the Beardless.

While i've been asking myself what to do next a dwarf interrupted my and begged me to train some dogs. Then i came to realize that the kennels were OUTDOORS! By all Dragons and Titans! Why did I not create a building arround it? This will be the first task!

6th Granite
I ordered a cage to be build and all stray animals to be put inside. Meanwhile our brewer got possesed... What he's gona make? A legendary drink? I'll be the first one to taste it for sure!
He clamed a craftdwarfs workshop though :(

12th Granite
Pointed Ears arrived. Lets see what they bring. I ordered some junk-crafts to be transported to the depot.
The brewer created a turtleshell helm...
I made a decent trade with the pointed ears, even though it gave me a tougth time to check everything if it contains bone or something else that was once living...

21st Granite
We were disturbed by some goblin screams. Those little fools cuddled the weapon traps inside the narrow passage:

I guess that was the monthly delivery of bones. *hahahaha*

28th Granite
An other ambush? That's bad. A woodcutter is in the tunnel cleaning the traps!
CURSE IT! He got killed by those bastard goblins! The warriors are rushing towards them for bloody revenge!
MasterSqueak and Rigoth charged the goblins. As a result of that charge the hit goblins flew through the entire tunnel, knocking over their comrades.

While fighting in the tunnels we were ambushed over the bridge. Luckly the huge spiked balls awaiting such an ambush sloughtered or sent the goblins flying to the carps! HA!

After the goblins realized that the stand no chance against 2 of our mighty warriors and saw the rest of our army charge towards them they decided to try to run away. None of them escaped.

The last one came quite far. But he flew further after a well aimed hit by MasterSqueak's hammer. 17m! I guess thats a new record!

Our bone stocks are rising! Haha!

But we also lost a good dwarf today... May he rest in peace in the hall of suicide. (I am NOT thinking about renaming it!)
